Well here we go again. The season begins August 18th, but there's still plenty going on in the meantime!


Transfer season is in full swing, with various sources reporting everything under the sun with absolutely no basis.

And seemingly every team is going on tour of somewhere, because evidently teams like Norwich need to bolster their support in places like southern California and Malaysia.


Will Manchester United keep the title?
Will Manchester City not be a mess?
Will Chelsea's Jose Mourinho get himself sacked by Christmas?
Will Arsenal be stuck waiting another season to win a trophy?
Will Tottenham finally get a champions league spot?

Here's to a hopefully entertaining season with plenty of great action leading up the BRAZIL 2014!

^you guys are so butthurt. you cant go away to arguably the best attacking team in europe, which happens to be liverpool at anfield, who haven't lost since december (against us), 11 or so wins on the trot - and not play conservatively. we've won 16 out of 18 points against the top 4, that is an amazing return. btw, this was basically our b squad - so jokes on liverpool for not even scoring.

i shouldnt bother myself with defending 3 points but some of you haven't got a clue

Best attacking team in Europe? Lol. Bayern, Barcelona, and Madrid are arguable more dangerous in all of Europe.

There is a difference between conservative (Madrid vs. Bayern) and parking the bus (Chelsea today and against Atletico).

there is no way you can think that was an exciting game. i mean yah youre a chelsea fan so it was good to get a w. but how in the hell was that an exciting game of football? mourinho was smart with the defensive tactic, i agree. wenger went into anfield trying to beat liverpool with offense and look how it turned out. but there is a definite difference in parking the bus and playing conservatively

^it was exciting for me as a chelsea fan. but i can see why some neutrals wouldnt think so. that dude said the madrid-bayern game was exciting which makes no sense, because this was basically a carbon copy of that. i also think its moronic when people call mourinho a coward for setting up like this, they just see Chelsea vs Liverpool (two big clubs) and want a major goalfest but that was never going to happen. to those people i say 3 points and shutout scousers, nuff said

i agree the "B squad" is expensive but i think its more the fact that they played a 20 year old who had never played in the PL before as well as the fact they were without terry, cech and harzard with injures. then didn't start cahill and oscar. also ramires was out through suspension.

that tactics are a pain to watch (chelsea fan here btw) but we've been doing it all year and anyone could of told you chelsea we're going to come out and defend but yet liverpool still didn't have an answer. they had a week to prepare for the game.

Liverpool have let in more goals then crystal palace this season they had the chance to spend in january but didn't. chelsea on the other hand have only conceded 26 goals.

More expensive. Do not recall exact figures, but it was mentioned in NBC's broadcast today. I would not call it a "B" team. New CB aside, it was more or less a very very experienced and strong team. That was my point.

The Madrid-Bayern game saw full team counter attacks, the Chelsea game was Demba and Schurrle vs. Liverpools defense for the most part.

I think most people would agree the Madrid-Bayern game was much more entertaining than todays.

But as a Chelsea fan I can understand where you are coming from. As a more "neutral" fan I was disappointed.

It was only disappointing if you expected more from mourinho, which anyone who has watched this sport before should not have.

This type of match has been his specialty for years. Which is actually why it's hilarious when he complains about other teams using this strategy. He practically invented it

Not butthurt as much as disgusted. Not sure how you, as a chelsea fan, can watch your team go out and play in such a cowardly way and not be ashamed.

most goals are created from exploiting the oppositions mistakes, Mourinho set his team up not to make any and then take advantage of Liverpool's - it worked, job done. I could try to break down the nuances of the tactics but im not sure you understand anything other than FCB style sideways passing

I understand the tactics, I just think they're pathetic. Remember when I said that his only goal was to get a 0-0 draw? That's the same thing you just said.

Someone's always gonna find something to complain about when they suffer a tough loss. At the end of the day we didn't cheat, we played by the rules and won 2-0. You aren't meant to like it.

I'm not a liverpool fan.

I understand that it isn't illegal, and is effective. I'm also perfectly aware that I nor anyone else are supposed to like it except I guess a few Chelsea fans. Nobody is as effective as Mourinho in ensuring that a game is as ugly and dull to watch as possible.

Lets keep the bickering down here. Some of us non-Chelsea fans hated the display today, and understandably the Chelsea fans were happy with the result. It is over. Mourinho has always employed this tactic and been effective.

Lets just hope MCFC drop points.

Today was exactly why I hate chelsea more under mourinho. I'm not saying they didn't play well or that they flaked the win, they were just so fucking boring. I was revising while watching the match, and it was the first time ever when doing that that I've actually got a reasonable amount of work done.

Apparently Tottenham wants Frank de Boer who last sunday clinched a fourth consecutive Eredivisie title since he became the coach of Ajax four years ago.



First van Gaal, now possibly de Boer, the Dutch invasion in the EPL has begun, we can even say an 'Ajax invasion' because van Gaal used to be coach of Ajax (rather succesful even, with a champions league title with de Boer as a defender!)

Madrid is happy to let them pass the ball around 20-40 years out. When Madrid has te ball they are pushing for a goal. Makes a difference.

The Fox Sports 1 announcers are dumb.

Does it not? I thought yellow cards got canceled out after the semi-final? Or is that just international tournaments?

I highly doubt it will happen, but hopefully Mourinho lets Chelsea go out and actually try to play tomorrow so that the game between them and Atletico is better than last week.

I HATE Gus Johnson and Eric Wynalda as announcers. Absolutely brutal, and they are going to call the final in the US I believe, for both the WC and CL Final unfortunately. Gus is CLUELESS and Wynalda just plays along with it unfortunately.

If Chelsea make the final, RM are favorites, if its Atletico, then I see them as favorites as RM hasnt been able to beat them over a single leg convincingly.

Where is that guy who thinks possession is king? So much possession, so little goals (none). Pep is regressing Bayern. I'm glad we won't see them passing between the centrebacks 5000 times during the final.

Here's hoping we can squeeze out the win tomorrow. Mourinho plays 10 defenders, tells Ramires to get red carded on purpose, Atleti have 90% possession...and a back bass to Courtois bounces in for the only goal. That would be incredible for the neutrals.

Absolutely. Atletico are a lot of fun to watch. Chelsea, against big teams, not so much.

A Real vs. Chelsea final would, in all likelihood, be painful to watch.

I just hope Chelsea don't get another win and make it to another CL final by relying on the other team's mistakes to create chances instead of going out and trying to create their own. Extremely unlikely to happen, I know.

It would, better than Real v. Chelsea at least. And it should, Atletico are a better team than Chelsea and have shown they are well capable of beating Real recently. They work harder than any other team in Europe, at least from what I've seen, and make themselves incredibly difficult to beat because of it.

I highly doubt being a goal down, at home, in a champions league semi-final, with 30 minutes left, will be enough to convince Mourinho that it's time to start the bus up and attack.
