Chicago gets the lockout cup for the summer. Lets start next season off, and hope somebody fucking new wins it, damnit. Summer transactions are up soon, so this should get started fast.

God, I hate that fucking swaggot with every last bit of my being. I've never wanted someone to burn in the eternal flames of hell more than that drop crotch douche bag. I'm ashamed that there's even a Hawks sweater with his name on it...and even more ashamed that Chicago let him anywhere near the fucking cup. He doesn't deserve to be in the presence of such greatness. /rant.

And Theron - that's fucking awesome about Chelios! That's my guy...even though he did end up in Detroit after most of his career in Chi...

Not gonna lie, I wish he would have gone Chicago since he spent almost his entire damn career there, but I can certainly respect his decision. That's class, for sure!

It's about Quality, not quantity. He would have gone in with the Wings most likely seeing as how he won 2 cups with them, followed by the Habs with 1 cup, and finally Chicago with how many again?

This is ultimately why he chose to go in as a U.S Athlete

If you want to talk about quality, he only racked up 152 points with the wings vs. 487 with Chicago. and i actually falsely stated that he spent almost his entire damn career in chicago when in fact he spent just as much time in detroit... i guess i forgot that he was there that long...

basically you have no idea what he would have "most likely" done. you're talking out of your ass here.

look at the max/long contracts that have come across the past couple years most teams end up trading or buying out to get away from those long commitments. He definitely deserves it thought I'm glad he got paid..he wagered his future heavily on his performance this season and played great

Player I'm gonna miss the most from this team is definitely ferrence. Stories are starting to come out now of what a great teammate and presence he was in the locker room. He came up with all the stanley cup "player of the game" piece like the old school jersey/padlock/ranger jacket

Here he is giving the army ranger jacket to matt brown - a norwood hockey player that paralyzed during a game a few years back

Hilarious. New Jersey has no first round pick in 2013 (traded for Schneider), no first round pick in 2014 (forfeited because of Kovalchuk contract), and now no Kovalchuk. Well this should be an easy problem to solve.

apparently Kovalchuk was banking 15 mil a season playing in the KHL vs his 11 mil a season in the NHL, so i can't say I blame him for wanting to return to russia. I mean, who doesn't want to make an extra 4 million a year?

It'll be interesting to see how this plays out with the whole agreement between the KHL and NHL to honor contractual obligations of players in each league.

Surprised with some of the FA moves so far, thought Alfredsson would end his career in Ottawa, also funny to see Iginla jump onto the Boston bandwagon really hungry for another title. Boston has made some interesting trades weird seeing Seguin leave but I think they made a pretty good deal with signing Rask for 8 more. Kovalchuk retires out of the blue? Devils are gonna have a rough season. I have Boston, and Detroit as my prediction for the cup.

Jesus, that's insane! I didn't realize that there was that kind of money in the KHL. It's not exactly highly publicized here in the US. As much as I hate to see him go, good for him for pullin' in that doe.

If there are no financial repercussions to his broken contract/"retirement" from the NHL, I wonder if that'll open the flood gates for other Russian players to bail on their contracts in favor of more lucrative KHL offers?

Yeah that'd be cool. Shame about his career. I did a paper on the NHL and concussions this year and read up a ton on him. He was a great player pre-injury.

Lindros was a fucking BEAST. I remember catching a Hawks - Flyers game back in the late 90's early 00's at the UC. We had 4th row seats and I was just amazed at how fucking massive that dude was. Yet he still was light on his feet, so to speak, for a guy that size. Impressive player, for sure.

not like this hasn't been said before, but Canada is going to dominate the Olympics. Best defence by many miles. Best offence. Our starting goalie (guessing Crawford?) isn't necessarily the best, but has the potential of playing the best.
