read my post god , I said Rask's numbers are flawed , not undeserved... He's a good goaltender I don't think anyone denies that , I didn't , all I'm saying is that he benefits from playing behind a solid defensive core wich boosts his stats , and that's widely agreed upon.
and no , that's not how playoff works haha , we have a goaltender that is capable of stealing a series , just like he did with a lot of games this season....

It gets pretty complicated when you talk two large multi use arenas and pre-scheduled events plus TV rights etc.
It definitely sucks ass this is the schedule they came up with, but I doubt it was an easy decision

god that was such an awful game for the rangers other than the first ten minutes and the last ten minutes. absolutely pathetic defense. how many time are they gonna leave simmonds open in front of the net?
i liked the move pulling lundqvist for the third. as long as he was ok with it anyway. the goals werent at all his fault but the team needed a spark and getting talbot a little playoff experience (albeit one period) is a good call.

Agreed with the move to pull lundqvist because you never know what could happen in the 3rd period of a blow out game. He is a veteran enough goalie to understand those goals (simmonds) weren't his fault. Dude just parked himself right in front of the crease and the rangers let lundqvist out to dry...
The rangers PP is fucking AWFUL, they get zero sustained zone time, they have a hell of a time even entering the zone and the fail to execute..that is something I'd be worried about if I was a NYR fan
I still think the NYR are the better team, therefore I'm rooting for PHI to pull out the series tonight solely because if the B's advance I'd rather play PHI then NYR
Also, Mason was phenomenal last night and I don't think his performance can go overlooked

hahahhah...apparently you didn't watch them struggle against freakin CBJ in the first round...I think every game they won was by a margin of one goal. Out of all the teams that have or will make it to round 2 they are definitely the least likely cup winner

im not as concerned about the rangers PP. theyve been waaaaaaaay too cute with getting into the zone. they need to stop trying to skate it in every time and just dump and chase and use their speed to get to the puck first.
i think that the PP problem is easier to fix then the awful team D in our own zone. there was a four or five game stretch about a month before the playoffs where the rangers literally played D like a mite team. they all just collapsed down low infront of the net and watched the puck. the bottom line is even if our PP gets its shit together were not gonna win if we give up 4+ goals
i honestly think that whoever wins this series will make the conference finals. I think either of them can and will beat the pens

I wish I could watch every single one of these game 7's, but that's just the way she goes. At least I'll be able to watch the NYR v Phi and LAK v SJS games, the Minnesota v Colorado matchup is probably the one that I was least interested in this year.

Mason was great last night but he definitely wasnt superb in game 5. that first goal was real soft. idk how big a difference he would have made in the first two games. Emery is one of the best backup goalies in the league. he played fine. i think even if Mason had been in we'd still be going to game seven tonight.
the flyers pk was good this season (7th in the league) but the rangers were actually better (3rd). flyers were also 7th in pp but the rangers were only 15th. i dont think its necessarily the flyers pk that is giving the rangers huge problems. their pp is just mediocre to begin with and they are shooting themselves in the foot on almost every pp. the rangers are at their best (offensively) 5 on 5 when they dump and chase and use their speed to win battles
that being said id worry if i was you and the flyers continue taking as many penalties as they have. the rangers may not have the best pp but they are 0-19 over the course of the last few games. eventually the law of averages will start to balance that out and even if they get just one pp goal that could be the difference.
this is of course making the assumption that the rangers remember that you have to cover people in the defensive zone and not just watch the puck...
