Chicago gets the lockout cup for the summer. Lets start next season off, and hope somebody fucking new wins it, damnit. Summer transactions are up soon, so this should get started fast.

Xanadooas a dude who played goalie for 15 years of my life id like to think i know a little about it. and as a rangers fan and somewhat neutral person in this argument (although i absolutely despise of the bruins) my opinion is that Rask is the better goalie. he has a stronger and more consistent body of work throughout his career.
sure price was thrust into a starting role much earlier than rask and boston has been a better team and had better defenses then montreal has had during their careers. but at a certain point the argument that price is better because boston has a better d core is silly. are you gonna argue that marty brodeur isnt one of the greatest goalies ever because he had a really solid d core for most of his career? yes it helps. but it doesnt help to the degree that the absolutely insanely ridiculous d core of the canadian national team helped price in the olympics (for christsake subban was their 7th defensemen). comparing the boston d to the d of team canada is just dumb.
imo rask has the most solid all around game of any goalie in the nhl right now. i dont think he is necessarily THE best goalie in the league but he's certainly top 3.
sooooo much of goal tending is mental. look at marc-andre fleury. that dude is a good goalie, but man when he gets rattled thats it, pens are boned. even though they have (and have had) a good defensive core (for the most part) since he's been the starting goalie. i feel like from what ive seen of rask that in addition to having the physical skill to be one of the best goalies in the league he also is one of the most difficult to rattle.
price is a very very good goalie. and he had a great year. probably the best or second best year of his career. could he play awesome and steal the series? youre damn straight. is he one of the best three goalies in the league. i dont think so. i dont think so. not based on his body of work. he has been great but hes also at times been ordinary.
any way just my two cents
-emile-wow that's suprising as fuck coming from a tendie ....
Price is more technical than Rask. He moves quicker , he moves sharper he's a lot more nonchalant.
I think he's just a better overall goal tender and he's not the only one , I'd say Quick is also more technical.
And I didn't compare Canada's D to Boston's D , I said they both played behind a solid D and it influenced their performance.
It's kind of dumb to say that a goaltender's performance is not influenced by the defense in front of the, hahah. Think of Miller with Buffalo , even though he was on the worst team in the league , he still posted a .923 sv% , that's a good goaltender. He basically gave them a chance to win every night , Rask on the other hand , has almost all of his work done for him , he faces less shots , almost all to the outside of the net in restrained angles and he still lets in a considerable amount of softies...
Price is playing behind a less then stellar defense and he has similar numbers to Rask.
he faced more shots this season and his sv% is only .3 lower than Rask....
anyways that's my opinion , feel free to disagree but I think Rask is overrated and there are better goaltenders who are playing on weaker teams that still excel
-emile-hahah classic bruins fan :
''Price wasn't good at the olympics he had a great team in front of him ''
''GOD TUUKA !!!! OUR LORD AND SAVIOR HE'S SOOOOO GOOOD''
while Rask plays behind a really good defense all year and faces an average of 26 shots on goal per game.
b-kuli guess the people voting for the vezina are just bruins fans...
-emile-Price could've been 1 vote behind any of these guys for all we know.
and the Awards that are based on votings are super subjective
Xanadootrue. and if there were four finalists hed have been the fourth.
i dont think rask should get the vezina this year for what its worth. even though he prolly will. id give it to bishop, just narrowly beating varlamov. rask third
-emile-Price could've been 1 vote behind any of these guys for all we know.

b-kuli was joking about that
the point still stands that even though task doesn't face many shots its not like he's only seeing weak wristers from the point.
-emile-I'd give it to Varly
Faced 300 more shots while posting a .927sv% (only .03 behind Rask) playing on a team with only 1 (statsny) positive 5on5 fenwick (he would be 14th on the Bruins)
Andrej Meszaros had worse numbers than anyone on Colorado. Still, he'd be their third best defenseman...
The Avalanche also play in the west , playing six of the top 10 teams in the NHL where as the Bruins face easier team , so Varlamov's workload would be way harder to tackle in my opinion.
but hey , that's my opinion , what is it really worth ?
bgoldsteinrask > price anyday. you are delusional if you would pick scarey price over rask or just a habs fan
Xanadoovalid points. i wouldnt be upset if they gave it to varlamov. he was great this year.
it just sorta worked out that i watched a lot more lightning games then avs games this winter so im also prolly a little biased. bishop was just so far and away the best player on his team all year and that's even with st louis putting up basically a point a game when he was on the team. and then they traded him for callahan, who is good but isnt the same kind of dynamic player that st louis is. idk bishop also got shafted with the olympics imo and itd be awesome to see him get some recognition for the really spectacular season he had with a bunch of rookies in front of him.
but like i said i wouldnt be mad if varlamov won it. ill be a little annoyed when rask wins it though...
DeebieSkeebiesmalkin with a hatty. not looking good for the jackets at all right now. im ready to see some crazy-ass comeback.
-emile-Varlamov did not have the luxury of playing behind Patrice Bergeron (Selke nominee) or Zdeno Chara (Norris nominee). You better believe that counts for something as far as the quality of the shots Rask faced. By forcing shots to the outside and taking away the prime real estate, the Bruins' skaters helped to ease Rask's workload.
I don't think anyone denies that ...
I'm not downplaying Rask as a Goaltender , I'm just saying is stats are flawed in my opinion and he's not the most worthy nominee in this year's Vezina.
shredding_pandaReally hoping for a comeback from the Blue jackets

DeebieSkeebiesDAMN that would of been one hell of a comeback.
MaryOClearly Backus has a head injury.
-emile-make a case for yourself hahahah
bgoldsteinrask took his team to the cup. how has price done in the playoffs? how many series has carey won? two, maybe three

-emile-hahaha totally forgot Rask was starting in 2011.
come on , if were going to argue at least know what you're going to say don't just spew bullshit.
I don't mind arguing , I actually like seeing different opinions but you're dumb as fuck
anyway can't wait until the avalanche beat the wild.
also fuck san jose
bgoldsteini said rask took them to the cup
-emile-wich is still false haha , he "lead" them to the finals , not the cup.
but I'll cut you some slack because you seem to be fucking retarded

bgoldsteini should have put stanley cup finals. my bad
what has carey done in his playoff career?
also i have played alongside and against people in the nhl for several years. i would like to think i have a bit of hockey knowledge
-emile-Classic Bruins fan because I've heard that argument way too many times before by Bruins fans ...
if you hang around the hockey subreddit you'll understand .. shit is painful.
and yeh no thanks I'd take Price over Rask 1000times.
I'd like to hear your reasoning behind that haha
''Just an overall better goalie imo''
Granite_StateTuukka career save % reg. season - .928%
Price career save % reg. season- .917%
Tuukka career save % playoffs- .933%
Price career save % playoffs- .905%
Shutouts: Tuukka-23 Price-25 (and playing almost double the games as Rask)
Tuukka-25 playoff wins 15 losses
Price-13 playoff wins 17 losses
I can do this all day bud. Stats don't lie. And Tuukka can't be just as clutch as price.

DingoSeanI just broke a remote into 4 pieces by slamming it on the ground.
This is so fucking ungood terribad.
-emile-god you are so dumb , this is my last post about this. stats are highly circumstancials , Rask plays on a much better team , how is that hard to understand ? his stats are definitely flawed , please get lost
