It was in another team with a higher seeds barn, it was a scoreless game that had every character of being an OT exhausting grinder, it was completely self made, it was made against the top D pairing of the b's, it displayed his great hands and self control and patience. It has all the intangibles to support the great play

Yes I do agree. I absolutely hate seeing charging, boarding and blows to the head! So dangerous with potentially life changing consequences. I don't feel the Playoffs is reason for "intent to injure" a player, although many disagree. I may be too soft, but I'll never understand going after players with known injuries. Especially recent history on concussions. I'm worried for Gran Lund. The Avs have his number.

Funny because I was thinking exactly the same thing about the Blues when they completely failed to take advantage of multiple scoring chances and power plays in the 2nd period. Now look where they are. Totally predictable. Good teams put the nail in the coffin.

Just absolutely brutal penalties for CHI to take to end that game. All very deserved penalties that were completely avoidable too. The game didn't end with STL on the PP but you could see CHI was on their heels the entire OT period because of being on PK for so long..it really only felt like a matter of time before STL netted one

After watching different angles I think the hit was illegal but it was so close to the line that it shouldn't be a suspension. It was just slightly charging and I think it was probably a hit to the head within the meaning of the rules, but there were mitigating factors. The 5 and a game is enough punishment on that for me.
Totally classless from Toews though trash talking Backes after he got up. Guy is basically unable to stand, leave him alone.
seabrook isn't the type of player that would take a malicious run at someone like that. i'd assume that the hit, while meant to rock the guy's fucking world, was not meant to be an illegal hit/attempt to concuss, etc. had he not turned at the absolute last second, totally different outcome.

two main reasons....stl isn't that far from chicago, so there's a lot of both fans throughout the state of IL, and also because it's easier to get tickets in stl than it is to get them in chicago...tickets at the UC are highway robbery these days. fucking band wagoners....

I don't know anyone can watch that replay of the shoulder to head hit on Backus and question whether or not it was a legal hit. Backus didn't even have the puck. Rediculous. That is why he's rightfully suspended for 3 games.

the hit on backes looks similar to the hit from orpik on toews. both toews and backes should have been prepared to get hit but instead they had their heads up their asses. only difference is seabrook got five and a three game suspension which resulted in a playoff loss
the three game suspension seems a bit much in this scenario. seabrook's hit was more of a charge and intereference than orpik's but i think five and a game misconduct was plenty. especially considering there was no call on orpik's hit
to the people complaining about the chirping after the hit, remember it is an nhl playoff game. it is easy to say it is wrong to chirp backes in such a situation from your couch but when you are out there battling it is a whole new ball game. no player wants to see someone get injured but in the heat of the moment shit happens, people say and do stupid stuff. if you have a problem with that watch curling instead

For some actual perspective, three games really is too many. 2 was the most I could have understood and I would have preferred one game. It was a hit to the head, it was a borderline charge. But it wasn't that far over the line, and it pretty much resembled a hockey play gone badly in the heat of the moment. Seabrook isn't trying to injure Backes, he's just reckless. Compare to Lucic spearing a guy in the nuts and for me the cheap intentional complete non-hockey play is worse because you don't suspend to the injury. The DOPS sucks at their job.
I still hope CHI gets swept and Keith gets hit by a car on the way to the rink, though.
