Yes. And if we're taking 5 right and 3 left I still would prefer Hamhuis over Vlasic, but only by a little bit. I think Hamhuis's outlet pass is better and he has history playing with Weber, as well as he's always played well internationally for Canada.

But I'm not worried about the D. Any two of Seabrook, Vlasic and Hamhuis should be fine and I won't be much fussed as long as they bring at least 3 lefty Dmen. What I'm worried about is them overthinking and screwing up the forward choices. But I remain hopeful.

yeh providing stamkos will be 100% healthy it would be crazy to see him on the wings with crosby and duchene.

just imagine duchene on the bigger ice with the speed he has with crosby's playmaking and stamkos' pinpoint accuracy.

I'd say there is controversy by picking him.

I would definitely pick Seabrook over Subban. Subban takes too many retarded penalties, is too hot headed, and makes far too many mistakes. They should keep him benched at all times except on power plays in my opinion. Seabrook is just the overall more reliable defence.

They already have 7 other "reliable" guys. He's the only game breaker on defense and you put him out there when you need a goal.

When each game means as much as they do and 1 single mistake can mean elimination I'd far prefer having 8 solid defence who don't make nearly as many mistakes and who don't take nearly as many penalties at the sacrifice of a bit of offence. Our actual offence is already good enough. His place is on the power play I guess.

The correct approach is to take your best hockey players so that if Subban or anyone else coughs the puck up for a goal against with 3 minutes left in the third, the goal makes it 5-2 for Canada instead of 2-2. Everyone overthinks this roster. Controversy wasn't averted by taking the reigning Norris winner, because they then proceeded to leave Claude Giroux at home, which was stupid as fuck.

I personally don't have a problem with Kunitz being on the team at all. Like you said J.D., Pinkman is nothing without Heisenberg but that's the thing, hockey is a team sport and in this case, Pinkman will always be with Heisenberg. Crosby and Kunitz just play really well together, that's the bottom line. The point is not to select all the best players individually and throw them together, the point is to create the best team. While I do agree there are more talented players than Kunitz who have been left out, in my opinion the chemistry that Kunitz and Crosby have is extremely valuable and I probably would've picked Kunitz as well.

This is a lot of bullshit. Hockey flavoured words. No, the bottom line is, is Claude Giroux better at hockey than Chris Kunitz? He obviously is, it isn't close, so there's no way he shouldn't be there. Trying some sort of alchemy to put together a combination of players with different skills is stupid. That's how you get Kris Draper and Rob Zamuner representing Canada at the olympics. Take your best guys and watch them cream everyone. We never do this, we always screw up, and we did again. Not as badly this time as in 06 and 98, but just as badly as the USA and Czechs.

That's the thing though, they're not really trying anything. They're simply keeping a duo together who have proven night after night that they can effectively work together to put the puck in the net.

why spend a month trying to create chemistry when it's already there ?

but then again , there's no way the best player in the world can't play as well or better with an other player better than kunitz..

i dont like kunitz and i dont like benn. also not a big fan of vlasic.

nash i'm fine with. he's always good on team canada, especially when the big boys under-perform.

i would have found a way to get st louis and iginla in there, who i think are great leaders. iginla has proven himself on team canada and st louis is having a great season and is the kind of guy you win with.

giroux i probably would have had on there, but i'm ok with him being out.

duchene and carter are meh for me. so is hamhuis.

and lets not forget that last olympics crosby was garbage (despite being the hero with the golden goal), so if he isn't on his A-game, i expect kunitz to be invisible. i would not have put a player in there who is dependent on another player. what if crosby gets injured? do they pull kunitz? pretty fucking stupid.

no he was garbage. i watched every game. i don't look at numbers like everyone else does and base performance on points. i specifically remember one of my close friends sitting with me watching the gold medal game saying "fuck i hope crosby doesnt score in overtime cause they everyone's going to call him a hero even though he's been terrible". and wouldn't you know it...

time will tell if they made the right choices or not. i still think canada is good enough to win, of course, but i don't feel great about the guys i've named. if crosby isn't good, kunitz wont do a thing, and if toews and sharp under-perform, i don't know how i feel about guys like benn and duchene and carter having to carry the load.

Anathema apparently doesn't watch much hockey if he thinks that Duchene and Benn are bad choices but Iginla should've been on the squad. Iginla is slow and useless at this stage, and would be more so on larger ice, Duchene is just psychotic and Benn is a total nightmare for defenders.

In other news, the People's Republic of Snublandia released their Men's team today and they look poised to challenge Canada and Sweden as potential front-runners.

Flyers wrap up a hell of a road trip with yet another win against the devils. This trip has been OT mayhem but I'll take it. Sucks we let em back in it at the end of the 3rd but good on B. Schenn for finishing it up before a shootout.

Back to Philly to take on Montreal tonight. Too bad I'm working 4-10 at the local hill. Ah well, catch it on the radio like usual.
