Chicago gets the lockout cup for the summer. Lets start next season off, and hope somebody fucking new wins it, damnit. Summer transactions are up soon, so this should get started fast.

Holy stoked as hell to take a win away from Detroit last night. Course I guess we were pretty much playing "Detroit Lite" with their injuries and all. Still happy to get two points on the road. Nice to see the flyers pull out a comeback too. What a game.

Pumped for B's/habs tonight...too bad I'll be in the library working on a finals project for most of the game..

MTL is only 1 point back in the division as well, both teams riding a good winning streaks, needless to say its going to be an awesome 888th meeting between the two teams

didn't see the game, so maybe NJ had gotten away with a lot so they thought they'd let it go, but yea that for sure should have been a penalty. even though he did fall pretty easily.

I was. You're a biased jackass. That deserves a penalty. Ideally, it deserves a 1 game suspension, but the NHL doesn't care about sloughfoots, only headshots, so that's not going to happen. I like PK Subban but stop being a homer.

And by the way, no they didn't, really. NJD had terrible luck, so many pucks right in front that went wide and missed empty nets. New Jersey is like the official NHL team of "deserved a better fate than they got", happens to them constantly.

Well obviously i'm gonna be biased as well towards my team haha, but I think the call could go either way, obviously subban shouldn't of done that, but Elias did fall pretty easily, its not like subban used all his force and shoved him down.

That was definitely a slewfoot, but I don't think it was malicious. On the other camera angle you can see that he was trying to get around Elias who was setting up a pick. Should have been a penalty though.

Slewfoots are cheapshots, but I wouldn't put them in the same category as headshots. When has someone ever been seriously injured by a slewfoot?

First time in a while the bruins haven't been able to squeeze by on winning just 2/3rds of the game. MTL dominated the 2nd and it ended up being hte difference This has been a huge problem for hte b's this season I think they're now a -3 goal diff in the 2nd period.

Great to finally see a MTL/B's game this season luckily I got out early and only missed about 5 minutes

I hated that "scheduled" fight between thorty and prust. Two guys that are great fighters but there was almost zero animosity or emotion during that scrap and I didn't even think the game needed it at that point because both teams were playing hard regardless

I also find it interesting that MTL is at the top of the league in fights this season. It's not just prust/parros that are skewing the stats either because I think they ahve 5 each or something. Far cry from the MTL teams of recent past that would play a much different game

Yeah I love montreals team this year with Doug Murray being a tough physical guy, other fighters too that fight quite a lot are Moen and White.

An interesting development for sure. Gone are the recent days of the b's bullying their way through the east now that most teams have added some serious muscle

This was the tail end of that 200 penalty min game...if this happens again the bouts are going to be much more even





I'm thinking thorty went with prust to avoid parros last night...22 is gettin up there in age and showing it in his recent bouts. That leaves lucic/chara to fight against parros if need be during a late season game for the division and risking serious injury

Haha that game was brutal.... Just image both heavy weight lines going at it against each other that would be a bloodbath. Parras aint a small guy, Chara only had 4 inches on him and that really isn't TOO much. Next game is january 20 or 30th I forget but probably the 30th... I was hoping for a rougher game with more goals but i'll take the W

Isn't the bigger concern that they're getting beat up by the teams that they'll have to face in the spring? You can beat up on the Flames, Devils and Bolts all you want but come playoff time it's going to be the Blackhawks. I'm not really worried about it, I think the Sharks are pretty damned good at hockey, but it's exactly the same thing the Canucks have had to deal with the past couple of years.

that's some straight up bull. Kadri has a blatant tripping penalty on Smith which leads to a break out and goal. Smith calls the ref out on it so they give him a 10 minute game misconduct AND a 2 minute minor. WTF refs. get your shit together.

Holy shit that Brunis Pens game was brutal. Really cheap shots by both teams which led to some serious shit goin down with Thorton.

Glad my bruins won though! Any time I get to watch that bitch Crosby lose is a game I can gladly watch.

Im a Bs fan so biased and was watching football.  But I was expecting the Thornton thing to be waaaaaaayyyyyy worse than it was I know it broke the code but considering it as after those 2 cheapshots and given the hysteria around orpik going off in a stretcher it wasn't nearly what I was bracing myself for I thought I'd see something disgusting that made my stomach turn.

And omg those hits by Neal and Orpik were horrible.  Orpik friggen drilled Erikkson without the puck high and Neil went out of his way to knee Marshy in the head skating at full speed. 



Orpik will be playing this week hes supposedly fine.  Loui will be out for a while.  2nd concussion this year and hes sucked and been soft to begin with.  Tonight we officially lost the Seguin trade no question about it thanks to Brooks Orpik who refuses to fight after throwing vicious cheap hits.


At least Ryan Spooner might finally get a fucking chance though I'll take him instead of Loui to be honest.



The Neal and Orpik hits were awful though I was shocked at how bad and malicious they were and expected Shawns slewfoot and sucker punches to be far worse than they were.


(Yes I know any Montreal Vancouver or Pitt fan will see it differently I understand not trying to debate you.)

The orpik hit was NOT dirty at all, puck was at this feet, loui looked down to locate and unfortunately forgot to check if he was on the train tracks because he got absolutely crushed. Nothing wrong with that hit

That neal hit was filthy, absolutely disgusting and could have been a career and life changing hit. I had flash backs of savard when I watched that. Some people are gonna say who gives a shit its marchand blah blah...it doesn't matter who that is lying on the ice you do not fucking knee someone in the head like that. So vicious and the intent to injure was obviously there.

Thorton's mugging was also very dirty and goonish. What is strange is it didn't look that bad. I'm not saying it wasn't dirty because obviously coming up from behind someone during a whistle and sucker punching them is worthy of the misconduct and whatever suspension he receives. I was just surprised that two punches with gloves on did that much damage. Hopefully oprik is okay and thornton deserves the suspension. This is coming from someone with a thornton jersey

although in the long run it might be better. Maybe Marchand will think twice about all the dirty hits he's done knowing how easy it is to be in a career ending place and will tone it down.

but I doubt it since he's a little shit. and personally I'd prefer him to get wrecked and never play again before he has the chance to wreck someone else so they can never play again.

"Obviously I made a mistake," Thornton said. "I'm aware of it. I've been told that I'll be having a hearing, and it's hard for me to say much more than it was not my intention. I feel awful. I felt sick all game, too. … That's always my job, I guess, to defend my teammates, but I've prided myself for a long time to stay within the lines and it's hard for me to talk about it right now. I can't say I'm sorry enough.


Neal after the game:

"I mean, what do you want me to say? That I was trying to hit him? No, I'm going by him. I don't get out of the way, like I said. I need to be more careful and I guess get my knee out of the way, but I'm not trying to hit him in the head or injure him or anything like that."

I like Neal a lot, but I'm just trying to show the difference between the two players. While Thornton gooned it up and didn't abide to the "code" he puts a lot of faith in, the intent to injure was never there - that has never been a part of his game. For Neal the intent was absolutely there to cause serious injury

what Thornton did was assault. If Orpik brought charges on him he would win. Doesn't matter how regretful he is after the game, it's still assault.

Neal was just as bad. Although I don't know how you can say Neal had intent to harm when a deliberate sucker punch had no intent to harm. That's all kinds of dumb.

The league didn't suspend emery at all for "assault" on holtby. Flyers fans are even touting emery for turning around their season when they went on that little win streak after that game

I agree with the analysis too. I don't even think orpik's hit was a penalty, maybe it was a little high? Stick was off the ice but whatever looked like a pretty damn good hit

Thornton shouldn't have never acted like that and deserves the suspension he'll be given. It was a dumbass dirty move.
