Chicago gets the lockout cup for the summer. Lets start next season off, and hope somebody fucking new wins it, damnit. Summer transactions are up soon, so this should get started fast.

Excited for hte B's/STL game tonight. Would love to see the bruins continue to win on the road and help the desolate East scrape back against the West.

B's have 29 points atop the East. The West has their top 8 teams with 30+ points haha

Well somebody is a Cranky Cathy, a Debbie Downer if you will. Negative Nancy perhaps. You often drive by accidents and wish death upon the occupants?? Kind of forgot this is NS and it's quite uncool to show ones soft underbelly. I guess just ever since I saw the newspaper pic of my brothers car(what was left of it) pictures like that kind of rub me the wrong way.

Back to hockey talk and good natured chirping.

Hoping to get a few easy points out of the Sabres tonight. Would love to climb the standings a bit, sick of being at the bottom, I mean shit only ten points separating the entire metro division.

Fuckin Jersey beat Anaheim??? God damnit.

Now Havlat is also back so who knows what happens with the lines. But yeah Burns is really the engine that makes his line so terrifying to play against; Thornton is meticulous precision and calm analysis, TMNH is all efficiency, and Burns is just a rampaging wookie. How do you defend against that combination?

Anyway I'm swapping out Flipulla for Havlat on my fantasy team bench so let me know when you have a sense of the lines.

I'm pretty sure the current standings at Thanksgiving yield a very solid predictor of how the season will end. I remember reading somewhere that like 80% of the top teams at thanksgiving make the playoffs that's why a lot of teams are either panicking or feeling confident

Do you mean top 10 overall or split between conference? Top 10 overall is pretty overwhelming favoring the west..

Something like that. Take out NJD and ANA, insert Boston and probably Detroit.

Those are the best teams, as far as I'm concerned, regardless of what the standings say (which are unkind to the Western teams, because they have to play each other more than the absolute crap that the NHL laughingly refers to as the Eastern conference).

Seriously put Chitown, LA or the Blues in the Metro division and it'd be like that scene from Fargo where they put the dude through the wood chipper... with that dude being pretty much every other team in the division.

J.D. you must have no idea what Havlat's history is like... I wouldn't touch him with a 4000 foot pole. His taint can get re-destroyed while getting out of his car, and he's done for the year again.

Flyers finally putting up some goals and winning games. Matt Read is on fire, good to see solid guys like Giroux and Simmonds producing a little more lately too. Hoping we can keep it up on the road for the next couple weeks. Really happy with Mason's play in the net lately too. I'm actually feeling confident in our goalie for the first time in a long time.

B's quietly rackin up points. They're something like 7-0-2 in last 9 home games and have the best GAA and the only one that's lower than 2. They've also got the best differential which is surprising because there are a lot of nights were they seemingly give tuuk no help

They have a plethora of defensemen that are playing well, it's going to be interesting what they do with 6 spots and 9-10 players that could easily play night in and night out

Loui finally starting to come into shape as well, helps that soderberg is getting more comfortable with the NHL game

I'm happy because I love HNIC (if only for its place as a cultural institution in Canada), but I would much rather have seen it partnered with TSN. TSN had the best hockey coverage in the world, hands down, and it's shocking that that's not going to continue in the same capacity. The prospect of watching sportsnet for the next 12 years is disheartening.

TSN is basically the only network that covers hockey at all well. CBC and SN have a couple of good people on them who are constantly being talked over by morons. I mean, I'd like to think that the current crop of crap on CBC gets fired and replaced by the Ray Ferraros, Gord Millers and Chris Cuthberts of the world, but we know that won't happen.

There goes the best trade deadline, free agent and draft coverage....The only thing CBC has going for it are the pre-game montages during the playoffs.  I'll just keep poaching game center instead of watching it on tv, thanks rogers.

sucks even more about CBC. they essentially going to have to re-broadcast whatever crap Rogers if going to be making with little to no say on the content. They also don't get any ad revenue from the broadcasts at all. And barring some miracle by the time the 4 years of this go by they're no doubt gonna have to call it quits on hockey all together.

No more HNIC is going to hurt.
