You have to think Lecavalier will go to the Habs. Isn't he the 1C on that roster if he goes? I doubt he'll come terribly cheap though, I would think $5M.
I have considered the Tortorella hiring and I still have no idea whether it'll work or not. The funny thing is that people have it all backwards - saying the Sedins are too soft, won't block shots, and will have trouble with him whereas he'll be great for Kesler. Not so. The Sedins have zero ego and will do whatever is asked of them by the coach. If he wants them to kill penalties (the way they did for their first 5 years in the league under Crawford), they'll kill penalties. RK17, meanwhile, has a huge ego and expects things. He expects the coach to play him a certain way. Expectations are death under Torts. He sets the agenda.
Players I see doing well under Torts: Burrows, Sedins, Garrison, Hamhuis, Higgins, Tanev and oh good God Jannik Hansen.
Players I see having issues: Bieksa, Edler, Kesler. Booth is a wild card. Especially Edler though. Edler can't seem to focus for 3 games at a time, if he plays the way he can he's an elite level two way defenseman, but he never does so for long stretches. I can't think that sort of thing will be tolerated.
The most interesting thing will be seeing how the young guys do under him. Tanev will be fine, he'll just keep being his steady no-mistakes no-excitement self. But I am interested to see if he can get Kassian to focus a bit more consistently, and if Schroeder gets more opportunity.
