Park City vs Silverthorne

My fiance and I have been looking into moving to either Park City area or some where in Summit County... Don't have a preference between Frisco, Breck, Silverthorne, etc.. both PC and Summit CO have their pros and cons.. What are your thoughts between the two? Thinking resort acessibility.. Good and fun enviornment to raise children in the future, nightlife, location, people, etc etc.. Lend me your thoughts! Looking to purchase in Sept. THOUGHTS BETWEEN THE TWO? Also.. Whereever we decide to live.. We wanted to invite you guys/gals to crash at our place if you're vacationing.. And/or we'll also rent rooms cheap in winter for those of you who would need a place for the season. Everyone is welcome to crash for a few nights free.. Share stories.. And enjoy a beer

PC is awesome, I moved to PC in october and so far I'm loving summer up here. I can't say much about CO so i cant help ya there

But my question is what makes one better than the other? And @backyardskier come where ever we buy a house in the winter ill rent ya a room or mother in law suite $400/month for the season

Well if you ride mountain bikes Keystone has my favorite bike park in the US.

Did you consider Tahoe, Jackson?

If you're thinking about raising kids I'd probably suggest Utah over CO just for the schools (public k-12). I think there are probably more girls in Utah than Summit, so your wife to be might like that with regards to friends. I mean it's rather tough to find a place with less girls than Summit county during ski season.

Silverthorne is a super nice town, skiing is top notch obviously with the Vail resort right there. Keystone is like 10 minutes, Breck is 20 minutes, Copper is probably 10 minutes, Vail and Beaver Creek are about 30 minutes. Steamboat isn't too far of a haul (90 minutes) either if you want to ski some deep. Summer in Summit is super fun, tons of biking, backpacking (I personally love the Gore Range), hiking, fishing, you name it.

Not sure about Silverthorne, but the people in Frisco and Breck are pretty much what you'd expect in any ski town, a mix of ski-bums and yuppy types, but much lower key and cheaper than Vail or Aspen (and Park City, I'd imagine).

As for nightlife, Breck and Dillon have plenty of bars and small music venues, but I don't really know of any in Silverthorne. Silverthorne is kind of like a suburb as opposed to a real town (with a downtown, etc.) but it's still a really nice place.

Definitely an advocate for Summit County, but you are definitely in a win-win situation!
