Game gets going and 1 of the kids i dont know (ill call him steve) is taking the game way too seriously. I mention it to one of my close friends, and they agree. Unfortunately Steve may have heard this statement, seeing as he decided to go super saiyan from that point on. Its annoying, but Im not overly concerned or angry, until Steve takes it way too far.
My GF catches a pass, and is running with the ball. Keep in mind up to this point everyone has been easy on the 3 girls playing, and it well understood that the game is 2 hand touch. One of the girls is actually chasing my girl, and everyone else is kind of lightly jogging after her. Except Steve. He decides hes Richard Sherman and sprints after her, and shoves her. She proceeds to land on her face and immediatly starts crying. Not sobbing, but when i run up to her she has tears in her eyes. Im furious, and I let Steve know he should fuck off. He says if she can't handle playing she shouldn't be on the field. I tell him this is a group of friends playing 2 hand touch football, not a Stanford - USC game. He mumbles an apology and stays quiet from then on. The game ends after about 5 more minutes, and he takes off with our mutual friend, "Jack". I think this is the end of the incident.
But its not. After the sun goes down, i head to one of my friends bbq/kickback. This friend wasnt at the game and doesn't know about it, so when Jack and Steve show up I can't be mad for him inviting them. I decide to go inside and play xbox with a few people to stay away from steve and try not ot overreact. But steve decides this is a great place to get shitfaced, and he begins nursing a 5th of vodka. A few other people have had beers, but no one else is drunk in any way. So after an hour steve stumbles into the house looking for me. He says me and my girl are too pussy for a man's game. Ive had it, so i get up, walk up to him, and punch him in the face, as hard as i can. He falls back and catches himself on a wall, then says fuck you and takes off again with Jack.
Which brings me to now. Normally I would say that this guy is an asshole, and i don't care enough to pursue him, but it turns out Steve has been hanging out with my group of friends, and is moving into my small town. So it looks like i can't just avoid him for the rest of the summer. Add to that Jack is one of my best friends.
Do i try to logically confront Steve or is that a horrible idea?
Do i try to talk to Jack?
Should i have a sober man to man fist fight to end the drama?
