I'm not sure if he really is a douche, but he sure come of as one. Big parts is probably from being the xgames point-whore, having a private half-pipe in northstar and being a bit of a shut-in/not liking other human beings/getting drunk at inconvenient times.

Ive read stories on here about different newschooler's encounters with him and from them he sounds like a pretty big douche. That being said there is no way prove that they were true.

He's a douche canoe. And he's ruined the sport of snowboard pipe. I never want to watch any pipe events because he's going to win in his gay ass clothes, there's no incentive to watch.

Skiing at northstar a lot he gets kinda annoying.

The pipe is never open even though they advertise it to be open.

They use massive amounts of snow building jumps for him that he wont touch for months but maybe once.

This last season they began building him a jump and then stopped because he "didnt want it there because you could see it from the chair."

After talking to park crew they said he comes off very arrogant and ungrateful, just expecting them to be his bitch for the most part. I know Chas Gouldemon also rides for northstar and is super chill.

oh yeah and according to park crew white almost has 2 triples in the pipe.

I don't hate him (why would I), but what I have heard about him is that he is a douche. I have skied with a few guys who have ridden with him, and they say he is just a classless douche and has a holier than thou attitude. Yes, I know this is a he said she said thing, but honestly EVERYTHING I have heard or read about him backs this up.

He is a really good snowboarder. I will give him that.

I watch him for his snowboarding; I couldn't really care about his personality. However, he bought our whole table a beer one night, so for that, he goes up a notch in my book.

He didnt deserve a 100. Nobody deserves a 100 because nothing is perfect. Each year the tricks get bigger, so obviously the year before wasnt perfect. The reason he got a 100 is because they didnt want to rate all the other snowboarder really low. Hes just a lot better  than his competition.. (Even though  he might also be a douche)

The same with henrik. He got a 50 for his triple because all the tricks before were rated too high. When the judges give his doubles a 47, they cant give a triple anything less than 50.

all i did was get the nicest board and now i ride around seeing if i can throw a triple off something smaller than that one big cliff in alaska. i'm not really interested in any other part of the game

It's not a perception thing, he is an actual douchebag in person. He's probably the most entitled person I've ever encountered, and his attitude towards competition is fucked up and unsportsmanlike. He spent way too much time in Summit county a few years ago for my liking.

Solid bump. Yea his first run was better. That was so rigged. The only reason he's winning is because he gives snowboard pipe crazy ratings and $$$ in advertising revenue.

When literally nobody has a positive story, has to be true. He wasn’t even loved before he got rich and famous. Hell of an athlete though. If seeing somebody upstage you doesn’t drive you completely nuts you may be a cool dude, but not very likely to be a gold medalist. Just kinda the shitty thing about looking up to athletes sometimes. The shut-in lifestyles many athletes live isn’t as great as it’s cracked up to be but then again life sucks for pretty much everyone at some point or another (so dont fuckin kill yourself).
On to the 100s... dont get me started. They should never be given, but like Chloe? I saw her get a high 90s score she didnt even grab her board. Judging is getting stupid

Just because its a 100 doesnt mean its perfect it just means that it was better than every other run during the event and I believe 100s are only given on the last run of a comp. Slopestyle/pipe judging isnt the same as gymnastic, the point value really doesnt matter, it only matters where it puts you in rank for that event.

Nope, perfect scores are not given just the last run. Bobby Brown got perfect scores for his switch double misties and Harlaut for his nosebutter trip and those were not the last runs and could technically have been beat with much better tricks.

A hand drag is a deduction. You could have 5 perfect trips but if you hand drag you can't get a perfect score since it isn't a perfect run.

Ok I'm going to point out some real BS here. I just read the article from the judges on why he's scored so high (because he's the last to drop, as you say).

And they point out at x-games when Scotty James got robbed that even though he put down a incredible run with never before seen tricks etc they couldn't score him high because:

"Some judges scored him a 98 and close to 99, but we still had Shaun
White coming up, so we had to reserve space," Jennings said. "Nobody
wanted to go up to 99."

So instead he got 96 or something.

Then why the fuck in qualifications are they giving White a 98.5 when there are still more than a dozen riders left to compete?? They're artificially making his score so high that he's guaranteed to get the last starting spot in the finals. They're doing for White exactly what they said they didn't do so they can leave room for better runs.

They're doing this so then in finals they're able to score him well above everyone else, giving him unbeatable scores, and being able to justify it. Watch his first run. Then watch his 3rd. Which is better? If the Japanese's run is better than his 1st, then it's also better than his 3rd.

I lost a ton of respect for him when he decided to randomly pull out of Sochi slopestyle. There are all the other aspects of him being an over competitive douchebag, the sexual harassment allegations, and the shutting down parks for private sessions, which is whatever. For Sochi slope though he took the Olympic spot of another snowboarder, which would have made their season/life, and then decided to not even compete. That's a dick move in my book. If you need more evidence of him being a douche try looking at any other Olympic HP snowboarder's insta. Most photos are of the three other guys together and having a blast and not a single photo of Shaun White. It's like they're not even on the same team. White could have easily been a role model and mentor for the rest of the young team but instead isolated himself to win. That's ok because he is incredibly competitive, but also why he's considered a douchebag. The culture of snowboarding, and action sports in general, has always focused on the culture of the sport and the camaraderie that comes with it. Shaun White turns his back on all of that and thus alienates himself.
