2.35.1 Aspect Ration Crop Help

I would like to try and film some videos at the 2.35.1 aspect ratio. I have seen a lot of kids that use the 2.35.1 but dont film for it which results in cropping heads and feet, which i dont want to do. I want to draw the crop lines on my plastic screen protector so that i have it for a reference when i shoot. Any idea on how to figure out where to draw the lines? I shoot on a t2i which has the 3 inch LCD screen. Thanks!

download magic lantern onto your card, they have it as a preset. plus you get loads of added extras when you do it.

well, the 235 height is 817 vs 1080 (when you export, use 816 or 818, video players like even numbers)
So, measure the size of the 1080 screen (i dont think the t3i screen is 16:9) then take off about 12% on top and bottom. You should be able to figure it out.

Instand 2.35:1 markers: Move the magnification box to the very top and place a strip of tape at the bottom edge of the box. Then move the magnification box to the very bottom of the frame and place a strip of tape at the top of the box.

To make it more precise and (possibly) easier, just take a photo on your camera, load it on your computer, crop it to 2.35, and then view the picture back your camera again all the way zoomed out so it fits, and then just tape the screen protector accordingly.

Why bother with taping when you can just do it in ML

Thanks for all the replies. I tried that take a picture and crop then tape and that worked pretty well. it was pretty close to the 12% like ehv said.

He said he couldn't get it to work. Might as well try it again and try to get it to work, much better than taping the screen or whatever other sketch

I had the same issue with ML it is not happy at all when I apply the 2:35:1 crop ratio on it, becomes all glitcha and the color flip out
All times are Eastern (-5)
