So I just watched this bit because it was thrown up by Nick Martini about making ski films. Now I agree with a lot of what Plake is saying. It was inevitable that the digital age would consume the film age because of its affordability and how accessible it is. This is a issue that Hollywood has taken up and has even spawned it's own film directed by Keanu Reeves, "Side by Side". However, most ski movies have always followed the fashion of "documentary" film making, not narrative plot. I'm assuming the point Plake is making is that the narrative (interviews or documentation of lifestyle) in a film have been diluted down and replaced with cinematography accompanied by music.
My question is this, has anyone ever tried to write a screenplay and make a good narrative driven ski movie with plot points, actors and conflict? If someone has done it, please post the title of the film below, I would like to see it. If someone has not done it, I think it should be done or attempted.
Lastly, what would you want to see in a ski movie (that actually has a plot and shot listed scenes)?
