I have an iPod 5. The past two weeks I have:
Dropped it face down in a puddle
Dropped it in the toilet (no waste was in it) where it sat, with the screen on, playing music through the speaker.
Dropped it face down on a tile floor twice
Why hasn't it cracked or just stopped working? I'm not complaining, just really suprised
ive always been really impressed with ipods/iphone durability. mine is cracked to bits but works fine, and ive dropped my ipod a thousand times and it's good as new
my friend lost his ipod in a snowy bush one time and we found it 3 days later....it was fine!
If you get a thick case that protrudes a little in the front, they can be pretty close to indestructible. Id get angry and throw mine at the tile floor and the wall. The drywall would break first. I only got one dent where you change the volume. Mine still would not survive the washer and drier though, but what not much can survive that.
I don't get the whole broken screen thing. That's not the iPods fault. Don't be an idiot and take care of your stuff. I've had my 4s for 8-9 months now and it looks new (no cracks/scratches/dents/etc) and its never been in a case.
i dropped mine off a fucking roof onto concrete and it was totally A-OK after the fall, two nights later i knocked it off my nightstand and it shattered so the fucking home button fell out...
