Ha.  Your less discrete than me.  Thats exactly what I meant about Colorado culture(weed) .  Too many mormonorons  in Utah anyway.  I lived there for 5 years and had my fill on Utah culture.

Colorado. Passes are way better and you can buy alcohol when you want to buy alcohol. Not to mention you don't have to start every flirtation with, "wait...are you mormon?"

If you want real beer, yes. They sell domestics and limited imports/microbrew"ish" stuff, but it's all limited alcohol percentages. So most are at 3.2% instead of 4-5%

Ok.  Thats minus one point for CO.  You gotta do the same shit already in Utah.  All Newschoolers drink real beer so trips to the liquor store still going down...  On a plus point for CO though:  Weed is no longer a criminal offense right?

It's a pretty sketchy topic. You're allowed to own it and you're allowed to smoke it, but not in public. You're also not allowed to buy or sell it. Hahahaha. So they're basically saying "we don't know how in the hell you'll obtain it legally without a green card, but if you got it, no worries." Obtaining a green card for medical maryj is like getting a Safeway card though.

Also, still technically a federal offense. So unless it's the FBI at your door, you're good.

Yes and no. Utah liquor stores are state owned, where in CO that's not the case at all. Liquor stores in CO are way more abundant. Also the selection in CO liquor stores is way better and most things are quite a bit cheaper. You can't buy real beer or liquor in a convenience store or a grocery store in most states.

I can't speak for Utah because I've never lived there more than a week, but I live in the burbs and have 3 liquor stores within 10 minute walking distance of my house. Hahaha, never counted before. One of them is 24 hour as well.

Dan, Dan, Dan...I dont remember the trouble getting laid thing while living in Utah but I agree with the rest of your statement bro.  When you "Like to ski fast as fuck"(Wallisch) getting laid in Utah is no problem.  What did you think of the snow when you were in Utah Dan?  Dry, wet?

The fact that you would even say that displays ignorance only an american is capable of. Whistler Blackcomb is the biggest resort innorth america. Revelstoke has the longest vertical in north america. Alta averages 14 m of snow every year, while the selkirks(the mountain range that includes Whitewater, Revelstoke, and Red mountain) avergaes 18. for all you imperial system bastards who dont know metric, thats more than 12 feet of difference in average snowfall. its also colder here, meaning dryer snow, and we have a population density close to a tenth of americas, resulting in less crowds. not to mention heli skiing and cat skiing were both invented in British Columbia, as well as nelson being the heli and cat skiing capital of the world, with more than forty different operations being based out of a town with a population of approximately ten thousand. its no wonder that every major ski film company spends every winter filming backcountry segments in bc, while utah and colorado only get the park segments, where all the snow is manmade.

Ehhh, im an american who lives in spokane, which is about 3 hours south of BC, and almost every resort ive skied at up north is better than the ones i've skied south of the border that are comparable. Fernie > Schweitzer, Red > Bridger, Whitewater > Alpental, Kicking Horse > Aspen, Revelstoke > Jackson hole.

Haha dryer snow in whistler than Alta? New Mexico and Southern CO get the driest snow around. CO and Utah mountains are much higher resulting in better snow quality. Because of this, there is higher avalanche danger which is why there is less backcountry filming. Alta snowfall far exceeds all inbounds areas of the selkirks (Irwin Colorado catskiing averages 600" too if you want to talk out of bounds). Yes cat and heliskiing are better in BC but its not like cat skiing and heli-skiing sucks in CO and UT.

I agree with you that BC is a sick place but that doesn't mean CO and UT aren't. BTW population density has nothing to do with skier density considering most of the Canadian population lives close to the border where most of the ski areas are.

There is NO competition here. Utah wins! Just look at the data

-Weed is illegal in Utah. Weed makes the hippies happy. No weed = no hippies.

-Mormons. Polygamy, Ken Jennings, and apple beer. That's cool with me

-It's a desert. Less water, but more snow. That stuff is great because it so light that it can melt a foot a day. That way the snow is out of the way and you can enjoy the beautiful flat deserts. Maybe a tumbleweed will get stuck to your car in the resort parking lot.

-Sundance. You can go to the music festival and watch a bunch of indie movies if you're into that kind of stuff. It's worth a shot

I think I've made my case. Colorado is for stoners, bros, stoner bros, hippies, cowboys, drunks, meth heads, drug cartels, and rich white skier snobs. How much does a cheeseburger cost at aspen? I don't know, but I could use that money to make a down payment on my apartment in UTAH. Because Utah is better.

Just turned 30, and I am looking to move out west around December time. I went to Utah for the 1st time in Feb. Skied at Alta, and Snowbird. I really enjoyed the skiing, it was great (seriously awesome) Aside from the awful fog, that would blanket the whole mountain and make it very hard to see.
Other then the skiing, I have the say that SLC is one of the weirdest, strangest places I have ever been to. Not for me. The Mormons are a strange bunch, the whole city is run and controlled by Mormons. Some very interested people. I think that SLC is a dump. The whole smog inversion deal is terrible. Just something about the city that I do not like. Has a strange vibe, and culture.

Colorado has great skiing as well, I think that. While it may not be as wonderful as snowbird or alta as far as snowfall.
I love Denver, and the surrounding cities. I think that Colorado has a great vibe, and feel to it. Beautiful scenery, great outdoors, lots of things to do, and just a chiller more relaxed overall vibe to it.

So for me, I think I am going to be moving somewhere around Denver. Just not sure where yet. I like Boulder but I don't want to be in a College town. Broomfield, and lousiville are nice, I keep hearing good things about Arvada. Any suggestions?

What you said about SLC is dead on. Fun town, really cool stuff to do, not to mention fantastic skiing. Yet, if you're not mormon, the odd vibe is palpable.

In terms of living in CO, it all depends on where you priorities lie. If you're squeezed for cash you can look into south Aurora. The city Aurora has a bad stigma, but if you avoid several key areas, it's actually a great place to live. Centennial is amazing, but more expensive. If you want to be much closer to the mountains (you'll have to pay for it) then Lakewood and Wheat Ridge are great. The very mountainy towns like Boulder, Golden, Evergreen, etc. are really nice, but very far removed from the metro area. So, unless you can land a job in those towns, your commute is gonna kill. I refuse to believe that. Revy is sick, however their lift layout makes for long ass lap times and all the good terrain is on the other side of a hike and a long-ish traverse. Though i've never been to Jackson, it seems to me like you can get the goods right off the lift.
