Panasonic Gh2 possible lens issue?

Hey Newschoolers,
I just purchased me a panasonic gh2, and i have been looking for lens all of the web from vintage to new. I am deciding on getting the panasonic 14mm 2.5 for my wide angle lens for follows. The only problem is now for a zoom lens I was going to go vintage because I can double my focus range and so on and so on, but I was wondering if I got an nikkor zoom lens would the gh2 be able to stay upright during video on a tripod. Some of these zoom lens look mighty large zoom out to their longest focal range, and the gh2 is not the heftiest camera on the market. So do I have to have a lens with a tripod collar or am I going to be fine. Would love some feedback because I am trying to dial in my new setup!

Get a zoom lens with a tripod mount, put the tripod on the lens and hand the lens and then make sure its all balanced using your tripod plate.

I just picked up a Olympus 40-150 for my GH3 and I'm really happy with it. Compact size, very sharp, great price and the focus ring is buttery smooth

Is there any reason why you picked up the olympus rather than the Panasonic? Doesn't Panasonic make a 40-150 too?

I'd honestly just find a cheap 70-210. They are usually pretty light and compact for their focal range, and are everywhere.

I have an Canon FD mount Tokina one that i'd probably be willing to get rid of for cheap, honestly.

Nikon 80-200 mounted with a lens collar is everything I could want in a telephoto, just short of being a parfocal Angenieux tele.

They are pretty much the exact same lens and the Olympus is bit cheaper and maybe even a bit sharper.

This.

The Olympus lens is crazy sharp and can be found for as little as $100.

Try it, and if the f/5.6 is holding you back start looking into f/2.8 vintage zooms. Or just get the 45mm f/1.8 for those low light situations.

Nikon has plenty... 35-70 f/2.8, 80-200 f/2.8, etc...

Are you joking lol? the AIS Nikon 80-200 f2.8 was like a joke. They made only like 1600 of them and they are near impossible to find. I haven't even heard of the 35-70 f2.8 AIs...
