i scraped my elbow over a month ago while skateboarding. its nothing too deep or serious looking, and usually isnt very painful. however because i almost always fall on the same elbow while skating, every time the cut starts to scab over i fall on it and its open again. this has happened to the same cut at least 8 times so far. a couple weeks ago i managed to keep it covered well enough that the scab came off naturally, but the thin fresh skin busted open next time i fell on it. ive been using neosporin and keeping it well protected with band-aids and elbow pads when im skating, but it keeps happening anyways. im afraid that if it goes on much longer it will either become infected or just become a constant annoyance, so im looking for answers. any other skaters / bikers / bladers who have had similar problems? any other advice or home remedies? im looking for any solution i can find at this point.
this happenned to me from like march to just a couple weeks ago, its fucking awful you cant put your elbow down anywhere and it feels like its fucking broken when you hit it again
let me rephrase some points i made in the OP because some people clearly didnt pick up on them. i already started wearing elbow pads to protect it, but even with pads on it a hard slam will knock the scab off somehow. i have been using neosporin and medicated bandages.
and i bet you guys feel really clever for coming up with things like "learn how to skate." fucking comedic geniuses in this thread. if you dont fall down once in a while, you never learn where your limits are, and you never improve.
Do you have those spray on band aids in the States? They sting like hell but they're really good for 'sealing' cuts and scabs. I'd use that and carry it round with me in my pocket. As soon as the scab comes off or the cut opens up again just spray some more of that stuff on. Eventually it'll heal but you're gonna have a scar.
