what are some good songs to play? been at it about a year now and i'm always looking for new stuff but i don't know that much good guitar music. been getting into bob dylan, the beatles, RHCP, etc, so i'm pretty open to about anything

only have an acoustic too so keep that in mind. if anyone is interested it's my dads 1985 Alvarez DY-61

When I'm at loss for a song to play I go to ultimate-guitar.com and go to Top 100 and just look for the popular songs on their. They're usually easy to play, and a lot of people know them

you my favorite song to play is Green Grass and High tides, the solo sounds rad !
I also quite enjoyed

-through the fire and flames
-hot for teacher
-sudden death

This is probably my favorite song to play on my acoustic. It takes some time to get down, but it's not as hard as it sounds. Also, it's by Mason Williams, not Clapton, but this is the best quality video I could find on Youtube.

Been playing for 5-6 years and Under The Bridge by RHCP is still one of my favorite songs.  It sounds very good and honestly should be a perfect song for you to learn.  Its right around your skill level. The intro is good practice at finger picking also

Learn some zeppelin. This song might be slightly hard to learn but it's super fun to play once you figure it out.

Acoustic: Road Trippin, F stop blues, blackbird, stairway(actually learn the tabbed pro version), stand by me, and anything Jack Johnson is decent.

Electric(rock): Alot of classic rock songs are good to learn, Led Zeppelin, ACDC, Def Leppard, Mettalica e.t.c Also some songs to really work on are cliffs of dover, little wing, sweet home Alabama, and Knocking on heavens.

NOTE: Its good to know riffs and all but you should really learn how to play full songs, especially the last four I said.

These are just my suggestions, some songs I'm currently working on such as cliffs of dover. If you need any more help or wanna talk guitar pm me.

Also been playing only acoustic for about a year. Definitely agree what everyone said, especially Over the HIlls and Far Away and LIttle Black Submarines. A lot of claptons stuff isnt to hard, theres great videos on Layla,Tears in heaven, and Bell Bottom Blues. John Mayers version of Free Falling is also really fun to play. Also Needle and the Damage Done by Neil young.

A Comet Appears by the Shins is fun. not terribly difficult but a good finger picker.

two of my favorites are Deal and Mississippi Half-Step by the dead--good, fun, songs that combine picking and great chord progressions. check out sevenths chords--realllll fun/funky, and just the start!

slightly stoopid has fun acoustic stuff (i like everything on live and direct), as does tenacious D (kielbasa's fun).

also, just play stuff you like; it doesn't necessarily have to be a popular song, people usually enjoy hearing you play well regardless of whether or not they know the song. plus, if it's a song they don't know, they don't know it if you fuck up haha
