Are the Schizo worth the extra money?

So I am looking into buying the SFB's and they are a recommended mount of -2. I live in colorado so we don;t get too much powder,but when we do it would be nice to be mounted at -2, but for park days or just groomers it would be nice to be mounted -1 to center.
Because if this I was looking into the Marker Griffon Schizo, I know that they are a good bindings without the mechanism, but I was wondering if It is worth the extra money or if being mounted -1 will even affect the SFB'S too much. Or if I should just stick with the Griffons, and if so where I should mount it.

I've heard schizo has always sucked but this past season I've heard improvments were made. Not a Marker fan to begin with.

i heard this too......but i have the Griffon Schizos from like 4 years ago.....and i have had absolutely zero problems(btw i ski pretty hard) . But i have heard plenty of stories of them breaking, so i just musta got lucky. Also i dont really use the moving system at all....i found it more of a hassle really. so i would just go with a normal binding if i were you. you wont feel a difference really in 1cm anyway.

Just my 2 cents.

most people who buy the schizo never seem to actually use the system from what I've seen.

This. If you'll actually use it, it's worth it. If you can settle for a fixed position, skip it.

Two or three internet skiers posted bad reports about early Schizos and that spoiled their reputation for a while. I have 4 years on the original model (the version without the cable retainers) with no issues at all. Just remember to have a boot snapped in whenever you adjust it rearwards.

I had no issues with my Jester Schizos, but as others have said unless your into perfecting your use of the skis just get normal bindings, I did use mine a fair bit but that was down to having them on a one ski quiver as I was restricted to only taking one set with me when I was repping.

Well If I get the Sir Francis Bacons those will be a "one ski quiver" and I will be using them for everything. So would you recommend them for that then? If not where should I mount them?
If nay one with SFB's has any advice that would be helpful.
Also, in the first place would you recommend I not get the SFB, and why?

SFB's are fun even mounted more forward like say -1cm or -2cm from center for pow/all mtn. To add to what I said before, the only people who I do see use them for the most part are usually little kids because they can keep adjusting for a bigger boot as they grow.

I thought schizo moves as a full system, i.e., toe and heel moves together? so how can you adjust for boot size change?

You can Definately adjust for different boot size.....I have done it before.

My friend has this on his jesters and everytime we go to the park he center mounts them and whenever were skiing all mountain he puts them back. Its really quick to do.
So if you think you'll ever use it, its worth it

If you can adjust both you really think it'll only fit one size boot? They don't have to move simultaneously hahahaha

I had mine on Liberty Morphics and my boss had his on Bacons, I wish I had gone for the Bacons over the Morphics. He loved his on the Bacons and had been running them for three seasons with no complaints.

Im not sure on the settings form the Jigs but they work in a similar way to the Marker / a system binding when you set the bindings up on the tracks. The toe and heal piece work on a range of boot sizes and then you adjust and fine tune the fit with the screw on the heal. When you move the Schizo system it moves both parts at once via the screw on the toe mounting (same as the Marker Demo bindings) the heal piece on the later ones does not need the boot in the biding (I never needed the boot in mine when I adjusted them).

Yep as the guy said above you can adjust them just like you would a demo binding. They pretty much are a demo really. The moving system can work ok but it's nothing like as strong as a mounted binding. And as most people have said, most people who have them I have spoken too say they barly ever adjust them once they find the position the ski they have works best at. So why not demo the skis your after and play with moving the demo binding forward and back until you find your sweet spot. Most skis will have a sweet spot where they work the best. Then just get some bindings mounted there, I can almost garentee you you will not wish you could move the bindings in the future, and if you really want to you can always remount

Thank you. There is no where to demo SFB's though. So I couldn't really find out where to mount them

There must be a line dealer there. If you go into a shop which sell line and say your interested in buying some, chances are they could get you a demo pair. The reps have demo skis for exactly that type of thing. The shop can speak to the line rep and he should be able to bring some in for you to try. If you like them your not obligate to buy from the shop which helped you out, but really it's the right thing to do. We used to do this quite often for people who wanted to try a ski which we did not have in the demo fleet

Salomons are great. I have some STHs on one of my pairs of skis and they are great. And they arent too expensive.
