Well good for you for supporting your family and ms, i've been busy trolling 12 year olds and convincing them jiblife was released a few months ago.
But to your point that there are 3 or 4 big time sponsorships in women's freeskiing, im saying there could be more with the right person performing at the right time. At one point skateboarding was barely a sport with a few real sponsors up for grabs, but when they started doing things that impressed the general public, the public wanted to be part of it. Now skatewear, boards and chains like zumiez make millions on millions, providing many many more large sponsorships for many more people. Do i want skiing to be totally corporatized (new word)? No. But i do believe that womens skiing can go much further and become an issue worth fighting about, its just going to take someone who is willing to do big risk tricks without having to, and without the guarantee of a big reward. And if that is impressive enough to entice the public eye, then more money will be available to aspiring female skiers and to the veterans.
Also i want to be clear that I am proud of the females that our sport does have. They have come along ways in a sport that can be very hostile towards females in particular. They have been willing to perform for less, both in recognition and in dollars. But it isn't enough. Unless female pro's are content with where their sport is, in which case straight air's to 540's are perfectly fine.
And vonn sells things like si magazine subscriptions and cars. She really sold out, but people pay attention when they see her name because she impressed them.
