Good luck getting a smartphone with a data plan for 35 or less. You could get an iPhone with no data and just cell service but besides that I don't know if you could
I got an iphone 4s with full unlimited data and love it. Its basically like a computer in your hands. I watch like hundreds of videos online and they play really well
move to europe, get any phone you want, and pay 10-20 euros a month for unlimited text/call/data (but slow anyways and throttled after 200mb). In all seriousness though, you will likely need a specialized plan, like boost mobile, or a family plan if you qualify. I think the minimum minutes package for at&t is roughly $40 a month, then you have texting and or data on top of that. It used to be the case that data/texting was much cheaper on non-smartphones, but I am not sure if this is still the case. I would stay away from touch screen phones at that price point tho, I found resistive touch screens/shitty capacitive ones to be infuriating to use. If I were in your situation, I would look at who had the best service in areas I frequent (a legit issue in VT), then of those look at the cheapest bundle plans, and then look for some type of basic phone with a full keyboard. I wish I could be more helpful, but I have been using iphones since I was a senior in highschool, and I really haven't paid much attention to it since
i have a 2 yr old samsung galaxy s android phone...i'm off contract now so I could switch to straight talk wireless and pay 35/month for talk/text/web, not unlimited but it would be enough for me.
in germany it goes from already slow to 64kbps, which i think is like fast dial up. at&t only throttles if you are still on unlimited and are in the top portion of data users, and again only at the end of the month. Not sue if they do it on the huge ipad data/tethering plans. In the states, I have a 2gb/month plan, and I have never gone over, so I'm set (or I would be set if I didn't lose my iphone the other day)
Don't get an oldschool operating system like iOS, or a cluttered Android device.
Get a BlackBerry 10 device. Modern, intuitive, and classy.
Not a toy like most other phones, but a tool to get stuff done.
Q10 is the nicest phone out there.. Dat keyboard..
