Tim was a storm chaser killed in Oklahoma yesterday by a tornado. ABC just did a piece on him on their national news and they mentioned his camera called The Kahuna. So I decided to do a little digging. This thing is super interesting.
The camera now has 82 digital sensors at 11 megapixels each and will produce at 23-24 megabyte file shot in RAW. The shuttler time speed on the 1 million fps camera is 300 nanoseconds. Tim Samaras will now use this camera to photographic lightning strikes during the 2013 storm season starring in May to July and starting at 100,000 FPS and work up from there to hopefully 1 million FPS.
