they have been my favourite band since I was 13. I think I have seen them live 4 or 5 times, and I have all their albums (even their dvd haha //fan girl).
My top 3 since I was in junior high has been (and probably always will be) The Hives, The Strokes and Interpol. I have on my bucketlist to see the Strokes. I have missed out on them two times already (the first time I was too young to go, the second time they were playing at a festival I couldnt go to because of work).
both times I've seen him have been in pretty small cities (Portland, ME and Lewiston, ME) but both times he played for 3 FUCKING straight hours. He goes so hard, nothing but respect for Derek.
gets me stoked hearing about all these PL fans on NS. I believe derek has so many fans in the ski and snowboard world, i cant fucking wait until a color map of the sun
Interesting to see that most people love the bigger shows (arenas, main stages etc). Those can be alright but I think smaller shows with ecstatic fans are the best. Feels like family.
Saw JD McPherson a few weeks ago here in Minneapolis at first ave(~1500 capacity) and it was the most high energy, rock out, jamming show i've seen in a long time. it was so refreshing to see truly talented musicians just jam out 110% an entire show. I highly suggest going to see him, its not the "poppy" type show you may expect.
G. Love and special sauce is always a damn good show. same reason as above, they just jam.
I can honestly say that Toby Keith is the worst concert I've been to, as of two nights ago. I got beer poured down my back, dip spit out on me, and some redneck asshole pissed all over me. I came into the concert with a neutral attitude towards "country" people, but now I have a deep hatred for essentially anyone who puts on a cowboy hat and drives a big, unnecessarily large truck. Such fucking white trash. /endrant
Logic,Tyler the Creator, and Kid Cudi on the Cud Life Tour. Tyler was absolutely nuts. The venue had pavilion seating then room on a lawn for standing. In the middle of his set Tyler started talking about how being poor sucks, and he hated always having to sit in the shitty seats because he couldn't afford expensive ones as a kid. So he told everyone to fuck security and rush to the front. We all left our seats and stormed to the front. Ended up 10 rows away for his whole set, and it was amazing
Sold out flux pavillion concert at the state theater in Portland Maine was super sick, best opening act ever Cookie Monster. Found out the day after that 5 people overdosed and 2 died, and that cops were investigating some sort of mixture of like a bunch of synthetics. Some random chick used me as a shield to take a hit of some crack, which was weird as fuck. But overall it was a sick concert.
chance the rapper at the altar bar in pittsburgh this past weekend. it was WILD. he is such a great performer. he covered "fix you" by coldplay which was a cool surprise.
