Alright so i go to a school where they require community service and we need to 60 hours in the junior year. I did not have time during the school year but i get out next week from school after finals and then the next week on Monday until Saturday i will be going to Camden to do the service with like 3 teachers and 10 students. I googled Camden and holy shit it looks bad, ive seen bad, but nothing like this

just wondering if anybody else has ever been or did community service there?

Dude. I'm from new Jersey originally and all I can say is ho did you think of this being a good idea. Camden is terrifying. I'm sorry. I would say nice things, but there is nothing nice about Camden. Best of luck, put that thug outwear to the test, G

haha ya i knew it was bad, im from boston so i know city ways, i just heard tho that there were cars burnt out in the middle of the road, and houses covered in spraypaint and trash, didnt expect that

I'm from California, lived on the west coast my whole life, and know that Camden is not a great place to be. With that being said, I've only been through Camden once in my life and that was when I went from Philly to Connecticut a few years ago.

With that being said, take advantage of the opportunity, you'll be a new man after the experience. I'm working a job this summer that in the first week took me to parts of Fresno, CA I'd never ventured into before after living here for 19 years. Holy shit do I appreciate what I have going for me right now. My biggest worries are their biggest wishes. I worry about getting to work on time at 4:30 AM and they worry about having a job to put food on the table for their family. These people know no other life and you will be surprised that the same people live in the same city as some of the wealthiest people you know. I can't tell you how much I appreciate college and how much I appreciate everything I have just from working in these ghettos and dealing with these people firsthand. Enjoy this opportunity.

My school does a few service trips to Camden and Africa every year. Camden is really bad.

last time i was in camden, i saw some cops with assault rifles at someones door.

i.e. go somewhere else, it's a lost cause.

Camden is fucking horrible. Got arrested with some pals leaving Identity festival there in 2011. So I had to go there for court, etc. It's so damn hood, and the murder capital of the USA.

My school does a Camden trip as well and while I haven't been on it, a couple of my close friends have. They said Camden is ghetto as shit. They saw someone get mugged right outside the shelter. Good luck and hopefully your of African American descent.

I am the whitest white kid there is, I will be wearing no tall tees as that could be a sign of my wanting to be more thug, and I really do hope somebody has some of dat good kush fo sho
