Squad 7

Hey guys,

I've been skiing a pair of squad 7s this year and have absolutely loved them. Their only downfall is that they are extremely delicate. Are there any structural changes for the 2014 model, besides the honeycomb?

OP I think I can see what you're getting at. But please elaborate, what are the natures of you durability issues?

But anyways to answer your question I am pretty sure the only changes made to the ski is they changed the core from whatever it was before to paulownia, and they added the air-tip, which also makes the ski much lighter.
To be honest though, I am skeptical towards the durability of the air-tip design, doesn't look too sturdy to me

I came off of a cat track, maybe went down 4 feet to where I landed, landed on a chunk of ice, proceeded to crack the sidewall & delam the topsheet.

Unfortunately, they won't do anything for you.  Damage was caused due to an impact, they'll say you landed on a rock or a stump, even though you say you hit a chunk of ice.


That's why I like my Elan-built 4frnts.  I hammered a rock with my Turbos so hard that the impact hurt all the way up into my hip, and all I got was a deep gouge in the base.  Pick the bits of stone out, and a base weld, and I'm good to go again.

Also this, it is unlikely rossignol will do anything about it but it is always worth a shot. However if you are concerned with the durability of their skis you can get a ski much like the squad 7 and arguably better at it's job like the billy goats as someone mentioned earlier, moment governors or icelantic keepers just to name a few. All very durable hardcharging skis.

I shot them an e-mail last week with pics of the damage, but never got a response. I'll definitely look into those other skis tho, thanks guys.
