How to convince parents I want to make skiing my winter sport

I've played hockey ever since I was 3 and next year will be my senior year of high school. I've skied my whole life but the past couple years I've gotten into it a lot more and I want to make a full commitment to skiing next winter. The problem is that my parents want me to play hockey and they don't believe that I want to hit hockey. How can I convince them I want to quit hockey and make skiing my winter sport? I think part of the problem is that they don't see skiing as a full time sport but more of a past time...idk. What are your thoughts?!

go to your local hill more often and ask if you can go on trips with friends. also show them videos of you skiing or others so they know you have taken interest in it, they will soon see that its more important.

I played football since I was 7, my dad was a football coach my brother played college and t other brother also played.. I didn't play my senior year of high school and it was fine. I also felt like I was going to let my team down and my parents and shit but once I just didn't show up to practice it really wast a big deal and I moved on. I had the football coach as my English teacher at the end of junior year when spring practice started for my senior year and I didn't go because I didn't play and the coach was fine with it also but he was a cool guy and a good teacher as well.
