ill choose a steep pow run or a race course over the park anyday, yet i made a TGR account a couple of years ago and never used, i dunno, NS is where its at.

also to the guy who made the aussie comment, im from Sydney, 2 minute drive to the beach from my house, and i would safely say i ski more than 99% of this site. suck it.

I hate tgr's dumb " locals only" vibe. If you're not an expert on touring bindings or the latest tech gore tex, you're a "jong". Newschoolers makes me laugh a lot. I enjoy NS more.

Is a rad film company that works with skiers and snowboarders bringing wild heli mounted cameras to AK as well as park shoots. They also sled ski with Spriggs, fund creative mountaineering expeditions and film with 12 year old shredders at home in WY. I hope their movie this year come out better than recent history. RE:Session was their last banger IMO.

i prefer tgr's forums over NS because there is more information and hardly any of those help me choose a fucking ski threads how hard is it to choose a ski there are that many reviews, i can under stand if you want an opinion on a ski but those who cant even research or make a decision just piss me off now i am am done with my rant everything else on NS is better.

So let me get this right. You spend 7 months+ in Whistler teaching kids, then you go back to Sydney and you chill for the remaining 4 months of the year ?
So you don't actually get to ski 230 days a year while living in Sidney.

no, i spend about 130 days of the season (usually opening day till the end of aprl) skiing and teaching. then i go back to sydney for about 5 weeks, then i go down to the australian snowy mountains where i teach for another 4 months, then i come back to sydney and chill in the sun and work a bit for 2 months, then i head back to Whistler in mid November and repeat.

So I get anything between 220 - 250 days a year depending on injurys and sickness. 230 was a an average.

I say I live in Sydney because thats technicaly home, though i usually call Whistler home because I have spent the most time there in the last 3 years.

Well to be fair, they're for completely different things.

NS seems to be more about what's happening in the world of the famous people. You know- What did Henrik throw this weekend, and was there corn in TWall's shit this morning, etc. Also more about the fashion, trends and media end of things for sure. Also more about the lols in the forums Also far less relevant info on snow, weather, gear and the like.

TGR is more about the gear, the skiing and the obsession over both. They will berate you for not searching and making a repetitive thread, as well as haze any newcomer, but if you have at thick skin and don't mind getting razzed at first, you'll be just fine and the hazing will subside faster the less you act like a little bitch about getting ripped on. There is a shitload of actual factual information to be found, and even the hardest questions can be answered there.

All in all, they're simply different animals. I love both but could never leave either completely as they both do things I really like in their own way. Expecting either to just bend simply to please you personally is stupid. you're far better off figuring out what each is good for and going from there.

These forums are way better people fuck around and theres plenty who know there shit if you have a question about skiing.
