Whats up with APO?

So I was watching the SCI just like half of NS yesterday and I noticed that all the people with APO's were going faster than all the people with armadas and most other skis. I guess this means the bases work well. I love fast bases so I looked into them. The brand sounds really good and seems like they use really quality stuff for makiing their skis. Anyone know much about the Sammy C's? I might consider getting them cuz I found a solid deal on this year's pair. Height: 5'8"/ Weight: 135ish/ability:60/40 jumps-rails:expert all mtn, advanced park/Ski ice coast in NH at waterville, loon, and VT mtns as well. Stiff skis are the shit and I am looking mainly for a comp-capable ski (SLOPESTYLE). after watching the invitational, I think its clear that the APO's hold their on on big features so Im gona try to hit them up. Any info besides first searchbar results wanted and a solid review. Already seen one review with some pics, but other than that im getting nothing. I just want to know specifically how edges hold up above all else since I have had problems with edges before.

APO are made in the Elan factory. So nothing groundbreaking. Maybe they just had a better base structure, and wax for the conditions.

huh, well all the coaches i know who have elans say they are the shit, just a little heavy so idk. And about the base, I thought the same thing until i noticed people as small as reed lewis going as high as ellingson

APO skis are on the heavy side but nothing like k2 heavy. The bases are pretty good as far as the very few days I had on them. I stopped riding them after I found out the bindings were miss mounted on the third mount. Edges are definitely 2.5X2.2 at the least.

im riding Ace of spades with FKS so nothing feels heavy to me aftter i try another pair out, even my friend's k2s. and perfect. I needed to know the edges and you provided 10/10 for you

I would not read anything into it. Apo were sponsoring the event so they would have new skis for all sponsored riders which were presumably tuned just for this event. Most people here will not realise just how important the right structure can make. Any base tuned correctly and waxed for the conditions will be fast. you just have to look at the race teams. bases have very little effect on the outcome as all the big teams know how to prepare a base, it's just most freestyle teams are still very behind when it comes to getting professional. Good on apo I say

Rode a pair of Rockos for a while last season and they are BURLY! These things charged on hardpack like noones business. Like a few people have said, they are a bit on the heavy side, but man do they rip!

hows the carving capabilty on them? are they fairly snappy and really send you into your next turn?

Believe it or not none of our skiers were on new skis for the SCI, most of them have been on the same skis for a couple months. The sintered 8000 base in the Sammy C Pro's definitely help with speed though. Also we have to give a shout out to Jeremy at Skjersaas in Bend, who was the man in getting everyone who brought their skis in tuned for saturday. (OP-he also still has a good selection of APO's at amazing deals)

Anyone wanting to get on our skis this summer we're going to be doing a week one takeover at Windells and have our demo's there all summer and hopefully up in whistler as well.

Great to know. I just have a few questions: I am 5'8", 140 and will be growing over the summer and am wondering if the 178 sammy c's are too big. I feel that 172 is too short, but I dont even know if your skis are true to length since 178 seems a little small for some adults. I also was wanting to know what a price range for the park skis that Jeremy carries are. I am very very busy and dont have time to do comparisons online for deals and such.

The 178's should be fine, its what most of our team rides on and a lot of them are in your size range go height and weight.

bumping this up since I ended up getting a pair of this years Kai Pro's since they were mismarked for 400 in the "last year's skis" area. I really dig everything about them except how soft they are. I picked up the 177 and I grew so im at 5'10" 140lbs.
I saw Kai throwing down on them, but in all the descriptions and also talking to the rep who sold them to me, I'm unsure that they will hold up on some iffy jumps. any info is appreciated.
