His most recent album really is a masterpiece. He's elevated rap into a more arty place. Really gets behind the psychology of the rapper/gangster archetype. Different voices, flows, skits, different sounds and samples, features, etc all tied together into a concept album. His songs are catchy they have some relate-able chant-along anthems, some lyrics that make you think, a lot of fun and silly stuff. Big mix of themes between very earnest, serious, and dark socio-political critiques but also fun party stuff.
Think overall his stuff is really complex and enjoyable to listen to. The hooks didn't really reel me in on Section 80 and it took a few listens for Good Kid Mad City but definitely one of the most interesting rappers putting out albums today.
Also have seen him live and he puts on a good show. He is also an extremely technically proficient rapper.
