The afterbang is a pricepoint ski. This means it has a cheap construction, crappy extruded base, etc. You don't have to look far to find people complaining about the durability. If you don't go very hard, and are a beginner intermediate skier on a budget it can be an okay choice, but for not very much more money you could get a much better ski imho.
The k2 recoil for example has a solid reputation, it has a 4500 weight durasurf sintered base, rivets in the tip and tail prevent delams, altogether a burly ski with a solid construction that is meant to take the abuse an advanced-expert park rider will put it through. Also only $30 more than what you can find the 2012 afterbangs for.
Here you can find the 2012 K2 recoil in a 164 for only $180.
