Why would the "G" in "graphic interchange format" be pronounced like a "J"? You don't pronounce Graphic like Jraphic...

Yes but why would it change just because you abbreviatew it? It's not like its an english word officially its just G-I-F. It's just how people choose to pronounce it, or how the words in it are pronounced, so hard G for Graphic

"PNG" is always spelled "PNG" (or "Portable Network Graphics") and always pronounced "ping," not "pinj" or "pee en gee" or any other multi-syllabic disaster.

Nobody calls PNGs "pings" that's just retarded. That's like trying to pronounce a .psd file or a .aep file... Do you pronounce .bmps bumps?
