I'm just starting to shoot film and was wondering what your favorite film is? I'm looking for 35mm films but post your favorite 120 or anything else!

i swear by acros, honestly my favorite film

also love to shoot some portra 400vc, tough to get some cheap rolls that are still good

i went this route too, asking other people, but now i've just taken the approach where i buy 2 rolls of all kinds of different film, shoot them, and see what happens.

so far i've shot: ektar 100, portra 160, arista premium 400 and some crappy lomography 400 (to test a new camera with) and i have some acros 100 in my camera right now with some ilfor hp5 400 on deck.

sample a bunch til you find some you're a fan of. i'm definitely in that process still right now, i just started 35mm a couple months ago but it's safe to say i'm pretty hooked, already looking for a mf camera :/ haha

It's entirely circumstantial, but I always prefer Velvia or Provia.

I mean it all depends, but if I had to pick a favorite, it would be Portra 400 simply for it's flexibility. You can push it to 1600, can get it in both 135 and 120 formats, and I like the image/grain/sharpness/colors it produces.

And I use either TMX or APX100 for my personal work.

I rarely shoot color, but if I do it's crappy color film if it's 135 or Portra for medium format.

Can you post some examples? Because I'ma use that if it's reasonable. Also: what's included in the development? Scanning as well?

I've been shooting a lot of expired kodak T-Pan, and I like that stuff.

For color, Fuji 200.

I really like to get varied results though, I'm still expirimenting.

On the package are three vouchers for free development at an Hema photolab.

7 euros for three rolls of iso 200 36 exposure film including developing, I call that cheap.

Porta 400 cus the colours just cant be beat! Also hp5 if shot/developed/scanned right, but like tri-x you can get so many different looks with it!

I agree with Logan though, but 2 roles of a bunch and see what fits your style or if you want to save cash go on Flickr and look at samples......

Placing a big film-order in the US because film is so much cheaper there. Already decided on 30 rolls of Tri-X, but what should I get in 120? Weirdly enough, B&W (what I shoot mostly anyway) is much cheaper in the US, while color is almost the same.
