Great game in Philly.

Sort of reaffirmed what we've known about the Eagles: An incredible, dynamic offense that will put up gaudy yardage and a bunch of points, and a soft, incredibly weak defense with an absolutely abysmal secondary. After losing Fletcher at corner and having to move Boykins outside, their depth was annihilated. Really disappointing safety play, the middle of the field between the hashes was about as wide open as I can recall ever seeing it. It's time to put Nate Allen to pasture, he's just not talented enough to get the job done in centerfield. Terrible communication between the corners playing outside technique, clearly anticipating inside help from the safeties and it just wasn't there. Until the Birds address the secondary, they will be a middling .500 team with a flashy offense.

The Chargers converted I think 70% or thereabouts on 3rd down, which is inexcusable. No pass rush to speak of which is shocking given Rivers' lack of mobility in the pocket. Rivers looked like the 07 version and had all day in the pocket and played surgically. The D just could not get off the field on 3rd down.

Honestly, if the Eagles don't force those two turnovers, it's a blowout.

Another thing that's painful to see is the continued immaturity and poor decision making of Jackson. As a guy that's played several seasons as a pro, got a huge payday, you just absolutely cannot be goaded into a personal foul on a TD!! He needs to put that hood, street persona to fucking bed and play like a pro. Less time rapping with Meek and Gillie, and more time being an adult. That penalty was so costly it makes me nauseous.

On the positive side, Vick played out of his mind!! His decision making was outstanding, not to mention that Vick has maybe the prettiest ball in the game. We caught a peek of what the Eagles can do without asking Vick to carry the ball. He got out of bounds, threw the ball away where appropriate, made good reads, and vacated the pocket when needed. I think maybe that Vick could stay healthier than maybe it initially appeared.

All in all, I still see this team as right around middle of the pack because their defense is absolutely in the bottom third, whereas their O is really, really talented.

Good bounce back for SD.

agree on most things even though i am a chargers fan. but i kinda like the eagles for vick, mccoy and jackson. they are fun to watch.

what i thought was key in this game was that the chargers effectively shut down the run game of the eagles. apart from some options where vick kept it (including the TD), there wasnt much ground game after they got stifled early. like they were not even trying. and obviously there was nothing desperate going on as the eagles never trailed by more than a few points late.

the two turnovers were costly (and maybe you dont get the second one if you dont have the first one) and they can easily lose you a game.

however i think the eagles can "easily" reach the playoffs, based on what you said and how the division shapes up to be. the defense, i wouldnt get too hard on them. if williams can clean up his interference calls, its not that bad. boykin can flat out play. and a whole bunch of teams couldnt cover antonio gates over the course of his career, especially when rivers is protected.

on that note, how can that guy only lose a fumble every 5 years? the last lost fumble was 08 (or 09, i am not sure right now). the ball is away from his body and he whirls those arms around like a mofo.

Was it measured randomly at the game at like a 3rd down jump type of deal or did they have the crowd get hyped before? Either way, that's loud as fuck. I remember the lions led the league in false starts a few years back due to crowd noise.

on another note.

regarding vick and rivers and their "resurrection". i know its just two games, but you see what protection means. and we are not talkin about 5 seconds to throw on every down. just basic simple protection for, like a (relatively quick) 10 yd bench route.

last year, the eagles and chargers olines were absolute messes. part of it is struggling to establish a run game. especially when its 3rd & 3, 4th & 1 or late in the game playing with a lead. you have to be able to run it when the other team knows youre running. and they were not able to do that.

that coincides and magnifies protection issues. last year, rivers and vick were slapped around like whatever. and a lot of sacks were just after one second or so. you cannot play QB with that protection. you have to be able to at least throw short to intermediate routes without anyone touching your QB. also dont forget the type of player both are. they are gamblers who will throw one up for grabs before they are hit.

now dont come with the argument that rodgers was the most sacked QB last year and he still won games. now he is great and while i dont like him you cannot deny his skill set. but he holds the ball too long and that generates a lot of 3rd & longs. and when its playoff time, you wont win with such an attack.

He holds the ball but when you have a non-existant run game and you're best receiver is Jordy Nelson I can see why he would be hesitant

i "hate" the packers as much as the next guy, but the packers receiver corps is pretty legit. and it was top-notch the first several years he started with driver and jennings.

and nelson is really really good. his body-control is awesome. cobb is very explosive. the run game is horseshit, but they are not working on it either. like yeah, the solution is drafting two running backs. no, you need the oline and the scheme for it.

Well I like the Packers. Always been a Rodgers fan. I'm even wearing a Cal shirt right now. The receiver corp was (was being the operative word) fantastic when he started. Nelson is good but he's not a number 1. He's a number 2. He's a guy that will go for monster numbers if there is someone else on the field that the defense has to pay attention to. Cobb is explosive but he's a number 3. They don't have a real number 1 right now. Finley is a great tight end as far as speed, size, and route running goes but his hands are sub par. Defenses can 5 in the box all day long against the Packers and just sit on the passing game

The most impressive thing about that game was obviously the Seahawks defense. If you take Boldin who caught for over 200 yards the week before and hold him to 1 catch for 7 yards, you've pretty much stomped all over the 49er offense at that point. But to also be able to stop the run game, Gore got what... 2 yards per carry? About 20 total yards maybe? That's just dominance.

But the thing that really gets me was how they played it on the other side of the ball. They basically kept it on the ground, between Lynch, Wilson and Turbin. Nobody tries to run the ball against San Francisco. You'll get destroyed, is why. Apparently, however, when you're Seattle and you're at home, the message is, "We don't really care what aspects of the game you're all world at, when you're in our stadium we'll beat you however we want. Deal with it."

That's a bigger "Fuck You" than any trash talk you could come up with, that's for sure.

definitely the best home-field advantage in the NFL. if the seahawks get that 1st seed and the road to the superbowl goes through centurylink field, watch out.

not saying they are slouches on the road, but you really see what crowd noise (REAL crowd noise) does. it makes the difference between a close, 14-17 type of game and a beatdown.

they probably wouldve won that game anywhere though, dont get me wrong, it was just beyond believe how they pushed the 49ers around.

i kind of like both teams, but the seahawks would be my pick for the NFC this year because their defense is just a tad more athletical and their ground game is superior to any team in the conference.

maybe Im just mad but the Seahawks still seem over rated, theres always a bunch of flukey stuff that happens last night it was turnovers and injuries. russel wilson sucked. defense and a run game aren't going to win anything in this league any more.

The Broncos are clearly the front runner in the AFC, and in many minds the entire league for that matter. Marshall Faulk tweeted out the other day that they are the best in the league. Their defense doesn't get enough credit either. They are number 1 in the league against the run, lead the league in INT's, and all of this is without Von Miller and Champ Bailey. Once they get back than they'll really be dangerous.

obviously. but you have to play the games. i mean its hard to look any better. you have to admit that.

but the superbowl is not played in september and its not played on paper.



stats so far mean nothing dude seriously though. 2 games is just too less information. i mean even as a chargers fan i am not saying that eddie royal is going to lead the NFL in rec TDs. as far as ints go, you played flacco and eli, thats a good matchup. and when the offense puts up such numbers, you stop rushing as an opponent and the defense can pin their ears back.

lets just wait a few more games until we give the broncos the lombardi, thats all i am saying

what do you want? they got the "0-16" watch off their backs. they start a developmental QB and are down to what would be 2nd to 3rd stringers on other teams.

they have 41% of their salary cap "invested" in dead money, so this might take a while.

and for all that, they look pretty legit.

Well I don't think it will be that bad. The Raiders defense is much better. Maybe not as good as the numbers say but they are still undeniably better. The defense has a history of showing (somewhat) up against Peyton. He'll throw for 300 and a couple touchdowns but he doesn't light us up. Mostly just a usual Peyton performance. Also McFadden shows up against the Broncos and if McFadden starts going Pryor can light up the secondary with his arm and feet. Now I'm not saying they will win but I'll be surprised if they put up north of 30 points and if the Raiders fail to score at least 17

Just as long as you weren't referring to him getting his neck broken again, because that isn't happening, he's playing to good right now. haha, also our defense is going to have some fun slaying Pryor, as long as we can stop Mcfadden early.





Chiefs vs Eagles TNF should be a sick game, I haven't actually watched the chiefs yet some i'm excited to see both teams live, i'm rooting for the eagles!

Yeah I say things like that but it would be awful. I love Peyton. I lived in Tennessee when he was in college. Lifelong Peyton fan. Now I wouldn't mind him jamming his fingers and having to miss the game but being fine for the next week
