because if you want Peyton to to get credit when he wins, you better be willing to give him the blame when he loses. Maybe he should play better than Kaepernick did when he played us. "made it easier for Peyton? He had no chance. Even if we only scored our 24 offensive points, he still wold have thrown like crap against the best defensive performance in the Superbowl since the 85 bears. And if you watched the game you'd know we beat them on offense, defense, and special teams.

Please explain why we shouldnt blame the "greatest qb of all time" put up 8 points in the biggest game. Unless your willing to admit we have one of the greatest defenses of all time. You pick.

And your overrated bronco's D hasn't stopped anyone from scoring.

Well, it helps if you pick the right statistics. The Seahawks didn't punt the football until the third quarter. They didn't have a ton of net yards, because they didn't need them - the defense was simply absurd. What was their average starting field position in the first half? The turnover ratio was +4 for Seattle, and they scored 21 points off turnovers. Including the other 7 from Harvin on the kickoff return, that's game. The offense didn't have to do much of anything. And the offense didn't lose them anything - they were mostly unremarkable but solid and didn't cough up the ball.

Why is it at all surprising that the NFL's best defense was responsible for winning a football game?

First of all, I am not a broncos fan, so stop staung "your overrated bronocs" etc

The broncos have never seen seattle, they fucked up them. Peyton made a few mistakes for sure, he should've taken some sacks vs throwing INTs. I also understand the point where he gets a ton of credit for winning so he gets bashed by the media for losing. But, when you really think about it, a QB is only as good as his team and with a shity defense and playing the #1 defense they've never played before, they were outplayed.

Peyton has a record breaking, historical year and its bullshit you guys are trying to taint that because of one game. Stop being sore winners.

i dont think anyone is trying to take that away from him, he did amazing things. but it felt like the media was trying to give him the superbowl before he even played the game. they wanted a storybook ending to his season.

Yeah, the fucking Superbowl. I'm sure even Peyton wold rather have a mediocre, 9-7 year and walk away with a ring than the year he had. Don't act like him losing the Superbowl, with his team he lead and nearly perfected on offense the entire season, doesn't change the story of the season.

I dont. Pretty sure Peyton in his loss to Andrew Luck out threw Luck by over 160 Yards but still lost the game. It was a 6 point loss rather, but still a loss. Same with his loss to Rivers. He threw 160+ more yards. If you want to know the total yard break down, in the loss to the Colts, they had 439 to 334 in total offensive yards. Still a loss. So a +15 yard difference and a -36 points difference isnt that weird. If it was a +150 and a -36 maybe.

The first play was a fluke, the rest was great defense. Peyton was put under pressure in his first two possessions than the Patriots did in their entire game. If you honestly think the SEA defense is a fluke, you honestly cannot call yourself a well informed football fan.

Of course I do not think that this result would be the average, it was a absolute beating. I expected SEA to win, but not by that much. I expected a 21-28 or a 21-31 outcome.

Sorry for the double post BUT:

No one remembers those years unless they win a Super Bowl. The 2007 Patriots can tell you that much.

Peyton would surely give up all his records this year for another Super Bowl. AP said last year he would have rather made the playoffs than get his record setting single season rush attempt. Most professional athletes would trade all their records for another title, especially if it has/is a hindrance to their legacy.

The game was not a fluke. Are you too thick to understand that? 1 play out of the entire game was the result of a fluke; the safety. The rest all came from legitimate plays that the SEA defense made. Did you even watch the game? Or did you turn it off at halftime?

I gave you examples of DEN losses where they outperformed their opponents in total yards only to lose. What more evidence do you need to prove that this RESULT (note I did not say SCORE) was not a fluke?

no-- that's silly, you don't look at it that way when you're taking into account a defensive team. Those stats don't take into account defensive yards off turnovers. What point in the game are you even referring to? Why not refer to the game as a whole? The Seahawks had more yards.

Again-- comparing offensive stats when you have an offensive team playing a defensive team doesn't show the whole picture at all. Half of the game is defense and your stat there says nothing about the defense. You know this, though, so you're just trolling.

And again, the Seahawks did have more total offensive yards. You can throw all you want on 1st and 2nd down, but if you can't convert on third its worthless, and I saw the Broncos punt an awful lot in that first half.

I shouldn't respond to you though because it doesn't matter what I say, you just come back and call me stupid.

So you're saying that on average, if these teams played each other many times, the point spread wouldn't be this dramatic on average? Yeah, I don't think anyone disagrees with that. The win, however, is not a fluke--you're saying the point spread is a fluke? What's the point of even saying that?  And honestly, you don't even really know--we only have one other game to compare to-- the pre-season game, where we also destroyed them.

it was the refs! the officiating just completely screwed the broncos over who clearly played better and through freak accidents it just didn't reflect in the final score!

ok Im sorry the 2nd best team in the NFC this year is the best team of all time. the safety, the pi for 4 extra points, the lack of pi that lead to a den turnover on downs, the kick return off a bounce, the fumble thomas begged for, and the 2 interceptions that should have been knocked down by receivers are were well deserved

yeah, i haven't mentioned it until now because i realize it is irrelevant--obviously--if I felt it was a legitimate comparison I clearly would have mentioned it three pages ago, but you just keep saying that the score is a fluke, and I was just stating that we don't have another game to compare to--OBVIOUSLY. So you can't really say that the score is a fluke even. You can assume it is, but you can't say it is without seeing the two teams play each other more.

The soccer fan or the guy who "hates peyton manning"? Ive already disclosed my feelings towards Peyton numerous times. I respect the hell out of him and what he does. Its idiots like you that are blind towards his occasional mistakes that drive me nuts.

And all those plays you listed, that is football. Ever watched a perfectly played football game? Me neither. Someone always makes a mistake, we are only human. Hell, look at your parents. They made you.

It's actually pretty hilarious to read this page given that even hardcore Broncos fans aren't trying to blame the loss on the refs. They have plenty of other ideas about who's at fault, but they pretty much wear orange jerseys.

When you lose a game by <10 points, there's an argument that a couple of bad calls were to blame, or the weather, or a fluke bounce. When you lose by 35, the better team won. That's so obvious it's hilarious that it even needs to be pointed out.

naw man-- interceptions aren't rare for the Hawks. So saying that the receivers "should have knocked them down," is just a pointless thing to say--they didn't. That doesn't make the Hawks lucky, it just says something negative about the Broncos. If you throw ducks, our defense will come out with take aways. Poor passes by Peyton combined with receivers who didn't knock down the call does not make the Seahawks lucky. Rather than stating the things that the Broncos did wrong or did poorly, you're instead turning those things around and claiming they are not reasons to criticize the Broncos and instead reasons to criticize the performance by the Hawks? Doesn't even make sense.

Also, pointing out a missed PI call? What about the missed offensive PI for Sherman? Whatever...you think that because Harvin got the ball off of a bounce that his kick return was somehow less than stellar and shouldn't count as legitimate or something? Literally the only thing that was flukey was the safety. The PI on Tate was completely legitimate--guy wasn't even facing the ball--it was flagrant.

The point is, you have had nothing good to say about the Seahawks since page 1 of this thread-- you wont even acknowledge they have a good defense, and wont acknowledge them as NFC champs--so its no surprise that you're hunting and searching for anything that you could mention...unsuccessfully btw.

How bout the NFC game? In case you missed it, the very first play of the NFC champ game was a fumble by Russell Wilson that lead to an instant field goal by the 49ers.

as for the rest of your comments-- what is your point? That no two games are identical? Stuff  like what you mention happens in every game. If you're looking for games with 2-3 interceptions, 1 of them being a pick-6, just watch the majority of the seahawks games this season.

I said its a valid reason to criticize the Broncos. They didn't play like a superbowl team, and threw ducks to our defense. That's not a reason to take away from the Hawks performance--its a reason to back up the statement that the Broncos didn't play well.

That wont happen. My point is shit like that happens every game. Interceptions, fumbles, and safeties are all part of football. Safeties are rare, yes, but they happen. Happened the Patriots last year I believe on their first play too.

Want a fluke? Look at the Jets v. Patriots game. That call at the end for the FG was a fluke for it had never been called before.

Take those 16 points away for arbitrary sakes to appease you and they still lose by a wide margin.

Oh wait...you're saying that because these things happened, Denver was demoralized and therefore lost, so without these they wouldn't have been demoralized and wouldn't have lost? wtf? Talk about a stretch...and a teams ability to stay positive, adjust at half, and keep the energy up is huge part of the game.

I think I stand for most people in this thread by saying that hey dude its me is a fucking idiot. The Hawks played good D, the Broncos didn't come to play, and because of it they got annihilated. Offensive yardage doesn't matter when every other sequence is ended with a 3 and done or a turn over instigated by the defense. If you're kicking an onside at the BEGINNING of the forth, I'd argue your chances are probably pretty far gone. If you think this was a fluke, you're honestly an idiot. Blame the refs too? maybe that will help?
