I'm not saying I want it to be that way. I love watching hard hitting defenses take cheap shots, I mean I'm a Raiders fan, but if you're honestly gonna say that elbows to the head aren't dirty under the rules in place today than you're just an idiot

dude there was no vicious hit to the head. Please go watch the fucking replay you are 100% wrong. I just went back on the DVR his elbow and arm hit harvin in the numbers on his back. Harvin unfortunately gets his head mashed into the ground which caused the harm

This isn't the fucking matrix where guys can stop and change their bodies mid flight

These are big ass men flying around the field at insane speeds COLLISIONS HAPPEN

the first one is a clear foul. i know what you mean with "falling down" but you cannot ask refs to judge that. the defender has to make sure he wont hit the head.

i know the rule might go too far for some people, but the rule is there and lets face it. we are stupid fans sitting here and expecting these guys to let other guys kill them for our fun.

"the nfl is turning into flag football league". the stupidest shit ever. seriously, we are not playing the game and these guys have to make sure that they live healthy beyond age 50 or 60. alzheimer risk is 3-5 times higher for football players.

and what you dont understand is that the RULE PROTECTS THE DEFENDER AS MUCH AS THE RECEIVER.

you cannot hit the receivers head/neck, thats protecting the receiver, but the part where it says that you cannot spear with your helmet, that is protecting the defender.

stupid ass saints giving bush congrats for getting a 15-yd penalty and acting like he is the toughest mofo on the planet. uganda be kidding me. he is risking his health, the receivers health AND getting a 15-yd penalty. nothing to be proud of.

Yup, foul and he got penalized for hitting the head. End of story. Dirty play? Wtf, Harvin fell down as bush was already going for hit. Bad situation. I also would have been fine giving him another 15 for celebrating like a jackass...

There have been tons of studies showing that these new rules aren't doing ANYTHING to limit concussions in the NFL. Most concussions and other head injuries don't actually come from these big green light hits. It's actually the repetitive smashing of linemans hitting each other over hte course of a game, a linebacker shooting the gap and hitting a running back, a slot receiver in a screen tackled from behind hitting his head on the ground etc....It's an unfortunate aspect of the game and just penalizing for tatgeting heads (which is a good thing) unfortunately will have a small impact on head injuries

Yeah man sorry but as a seahawks fan that doesn't look intentional. Which, to be dirty, it can't be an accident, can it?

Really, this has been a pretty mediocre day for the Seahawks with the ball and it may cost them. This has been the problem for the whole 2nd half of the season.

Isn't that basically what Ski the east is saying too though?

That series was the first time Wilson has made it his ball rather than letting Lynch be the forefront of the offense. Could easily have been another first down there. Need to keep it up, but first, need a stop.

dude, let it go. The principal point of contact was the back, his arm came through and he crushed Harvin into the ground. Sucks for Harvin to get another head injury but that shit happens in football. Not a dirty/bad/questionable thing about that hit

Who cares if the seahawks arent doing anything with the ball...the defense is stupid good. Completely neutering the saints offense making them look like a peewee squad

what in the name of cromartie's 17 children was going on during that last play?

seahawks botch the coverage so far as to actually allow a guy going out of bounds in that situation around the 30 or so.

probably a called play, but what a weird one. i mean, the other guy has no time to advance further and go OOB and he wont score since all the guys are waiting for him in the endzone.


be lucky that they allowed you such an easy completion with going out of bounds and go for one last shot, which is way less hail-maryesque from the 30.

well just wait with all these "studies" until there is a bigger sample.

and i never said it was dirty. it happened in a blink of an eye, can happen, yes. but you dont celebrate it. after all, it cost you 15 yds.

and just to close this imo, go read up on all these deaths in HS and college. kids get killed because they think its cool to spear a receiver in the helmet like in the NFL.

thats the trickle down effect. all this "regular" sons which get seriously injured and/or killed.

a professional might be able to withstand the pounding on both sides, but football WAS NEVER MEANT TO BE PLAYED LIKE THIS. square up, wrap up, drive. now its all about those highlight reel gladiator stuff.

I watch every hawks game, and when Richard Sherman gets a good hit-- sure he celebrates it, but that wasn't a good hit, and as far as I have seen, I have never seen Richard Sherman boast or taunt when he gets a hit on a defenseless player or any other hit that results in a penalty. Has Sherman had any personal fouls this year? Mostly pass interference but I can't remember off-hand

If you watch the hawks often, you'll know that Sherman gets super super disappointed in himself when he gets a penalty, and I have yet to see him celebrate a possible injury of an opposing team. He is loud, he is confident, but he isn't a jerk. You'll often see him helping up the players on the opposing team, or patting them on the back/butt/helmet.

Although I could probably say that all day long and you probably wouldn't believe it or would call me bias.

Now for the Colts/Pats game.

yeah i get that. if he was on another team i probably wouldn't like him. he's cocky/loud/confident.

he's also really good, a great sport, intelligent, and super likable if he plays for your team-- i think he is just one of those guys that you hate unless he's on your team...

like fitzgerald, gore, or clay matthews for me.

ok...i don't know how to respond...this is taken out of context...do you have the whole play or what the penalty was? what the footage was afterwards and how he reacted with his teammates?

I'm not saying the guy was a saint, I'm saying he doesn't usually celebrate injured players from what I've witnessed and is generally a good sport. You could prove me wrong, but this footage doesn't do that, you could take a snippet from every player in the league and make them look bad. Again, you could be right, he could have been in the wrong and acted like a total dick on this play, but I can't tell from your gif.

looked it up-- was a cheap shot.

I have no idea how he reacted afterwards or if there was a penalty called-- I'll let you answer that. I agree that it was a cheap shot, though.

Now, if after that, the player remained down and appeared injured, and Sherman walked over to the sidelines and gave all of his teammates high fives, and he pounded his chest...then I'd call him dirty, too.

Cheap shots happen. Its unfortunately part of the game. No one, not even a kicker/punter or QB can say they have never had a cheap shot towards another player.
