Blading comeback

What happened to aggressive inline?
     I'm searching Ns and finding very little Inline edits. Just wondering what happened to the sport. Also  when I'm going to local parks I'm the only blader there. What i would like to know is how popular do you think that it is and if it will progress any further. Up this thread if you are a blader!

shits the most underground out which i think is sick. some of the biggest pros in the game work night shifts as janitors, so damn committed and for nothing more than the shred, no corporate contracts. SLC has thursday night skate where a shop texts a different park and a bunch of kids just go and skate together, mad kids show up. but the sport is definitely out of the spotlight but still going down. a lot of comps are just kids rolling up to a street rail, all throwing down cash then going off

I'm right there with ya man. It's lonely being the only blader in the park. but i'm fine with that. Scooter kids can keep on scootering, skaters keep on skating, and bladers keep on blading. But if one more person calls me a fruit booter... i'll kill a motherfucker.

If you call it "blading" people are bound to hate you at the skatepark. I inline skate almost every day and it is the closest thing you can get to park skiing in the summer. Go to aggresivemall.com, pick up some fresh skates, and start hitting rails, ledges and drops around your town. it's fun as shit. There is a 30 page Aggressive Inline thread that gets bumped every couple weeks or so if you wanted to check that out.

Haha this. They are made intended for the user to grind, jump, jump and stall on objects. People just try to find ways to hate on skating for some reason. I've found that most people who ski end up loving inline. So, I think most of the people hating on skating here would have fun if they tried.

once you get comfortable with all the grinds it's honestly so much flowier than skiing. endless lines around a park is the best

I can't think of a way why people think it's gay. it takes more balls to inline than skate. if you're skating and you get jammed on a rail you can just bail but if you're inlining and you get caught up you can't really bail you're just gonna land on wheels and eat your own shit. and its fun as helll when you get past the faze of getting a solid soul grind.

People just need to get over the fact that no matter what they ride on/with at a skatepark- you are still just riding a toy. I love when kids try and hate on "the other sport" as if their toy with wheels is superior. HA!

I don't understand all the hate. I blade and I skate. I'm much better at blading, but I find both fun. I don't get all the hate just based on what your doing. Some skaters says its because of all the wax. Blades take a lot of wax especially for soul based tricks.

yeah seriously.... some people make bank blading. i think it's actually aragon but some pro bought a small warehouse type thing and made it into an urban setup to quarterpipe and they just chill and sesh it all day.


the scene is pretty bleak in the U.S. but still exploding in europe, don't hate, bladers have just as much on skaters as skaters do on bladers

Blading in NC is pretty big. There are a lot of pros out of NC and in some of the bigger cities the parks are packed with bladers. I live in a pretty rural area near the mountains but ive have seen 5+ bladers at the local park at one time on several occassions. When i skateboarded frequently 2 or 3 years back i cant remember even seeing one person blading so i would say it's growing fast

but really one time i waxed everything at a park and had been skating for a while when a few skateboarders show up. one of them hit a rail, slipped out and goes "woah someone waxed everything"
i said "yeah that was me"
"oh cool mind if we wax it more?"
i sat dumbstruck at skateboarders actually using more wax than me

x games will never be about style. ESPN doesnt understand the difference between basketball and action sports when it comes to being the best. Its all about numbers to them. XGames doesnt really mean anything to me in terms of popularity. Honestly i would rather my sport not be in the xgames it just makes it that much more thug.

It was taken out of the x games, Because a very important person in the skating industry got into a huge fight with ESPN and they just got rid of it. It has nothing to do with style If ESPN didn't want it on TV they would've held the event but just wouldn't have televised it.

to us now it looked dumb but when it was in it was one of the coolest things around. don't you remember rollerblade yoohoo cans and skating rinks and stuff? people rollerbladed for fitness all the time. no longer.

After I think about it I would rather have a sport with style than a sport with a bunch of over populated fags like skating. but i would like to see more people get into it. it definitely deserves it.

when you work at a skatepark and have to deal with scooter kids, and more importantly- their fucking dumbass parents, you learn to hate them all.
Even our "local pro" laughs at the sport. he literally is just milking the industry and hates every minute hes on a scoot, even though he kills it.

yea blading is deffinaty a outcast sport now but i really still love it more than skateboarding. i feel like you can utilize the park much more agressivly than a skateboarder. making it similar to skiing.

definitely not dead, shop//task just opened up two new stores in the past couple months, one in new york and the other in calgary if memory serves me correctly.

In terms of hate, I suck but no one has said anything against me, probably because I just end up talking to anyone in the park when I am there regardless of what they ride. It's all about having fun and when you can have fun with people who have the same sort of mentality it makes it that much better.
