Right way like $400-600 I was thinking, then I could spend a little more in the future
2) What experience do you already have with cameras? Have you ever even used one before? Have you helped your friend out with his camera? Have you owned your own?

Not a ton, just looking for something that does better then iPhones we currently use to film
2) What gear, if any, do you currently have? (tripod, old camera lenses, mics, etc)

an old tri-pod in my parents closet..
4) What are you planning to shoot and how do you want to use your camera? Are you going to use this with the sole purpose of shooting skiing? or do you think you might try other stuff as well (movies, documentaries, short films, etc)

Using it for snowboarding, lifestyle shots, ect.
5) Do you want a camera that you can hand to your friends, that could or could not have film experience, and let them shoot you? or will you be doing all the filming?
I will probably be doing the filming but if there are like auto-mode or if I can set it up for them and just have them hit record that would be nice.
6) When filming skiing, how do you tend to shoot? (follow cams, leave it on record on a tripod and hike, film from a tripod, etc)

I'd consider one of those top handles to get the down low possibly with fish eye look. Maybe get a tripod too. Not so much follow cams but some I guess. I like the look of skate edits.
7) What computer do you currently have/use to edit (if not currently editing, what would you most likely use)? If you can provide specifics, such as hard drive space, RAM, processor size, that would be great.
Mac Book Pro 2.7 GHz Intel Core i7
7) What program do you currently edit on? How familiar are you with it (1- just learning; 10- I can make tutorials and know the keyboard layout)
1, haven'd downloaded Final Cut yet. Want to learn to make basic edits over summer of random stuff (camping, skating, boating, ect) so when winter comes I sort of know what I'm doing

---------------------------Optional Section, for those seeking a more intensive upgrade/purchase------------------------
1) Do you think you might consider using a DSLR?
I'm thinking about it but I guess I don't really know whats all involved or if its more complicated then something I can sort of jump into. I have a friend thats really into photography so I could learn some stuff from him over the summer
2) Do you have any knowledge about the HDSLRS?

4) Are you willing to take the time to learn about a DSLR, and how to shoot with manual lenses?

Again, I'm thinking its just something that I'll be able to pick up after using it for a solid month or so, but I'm talking out of my ass and don't really know what I'm talking about.
5) Again, do you want a camera that you can hand to your friends, that could or could not have film experience, and let them shoot you? or will you be doing all the filming?

I'm fine with filming, but if theres like auto-mode or I can just set it up for them so I can hit the feature a few times that would be nice.
