70-300mm sigma or canon

I was wondering wich one I should buy because the sigma doesn't have image stabilisation but would it be an issue on a tripod ?
And the sigma also have the macro feature that could be usefull sometime.
I would use it mostly for filming.

you can probably get a used canon 70-200 f4L for a decent price if you shop around which will be >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> than either of those

Well i don't really want to spend alot because its not going to be the lens i'll use the most... But will the image stabilisation be an isue if I dont have it while filming with a tripod ?

If you're talking about this 70-300 than you could easily get a 70-200 f4l for cheaper (If I remember correctly they go for ~$500-600 used)

Well i think i'll get the sigma its like 200$ brand new but I need to know if the IS is something important

Either 70-300 is going to be a non consistent aperture lens which isn't very good for video as it will make the exposure darker if you zoom in and will make a ticking noise that can be heard on the video. It's a cheap lens and for canon vs sigma it comes down to do you want macro or stabilization. Stabilization is probably the way to go with a minimum aperture of f/4 and that's only at 70mm. Don't expect either to be sharp lenses.

If you're serious about photography or think you will be in due time, don't waste your money on el cheapo gear and get the good stuff (70-200).
