ok, so i dont know if there has been a thread like this, but i cant seem to find one so here goes.
i live in colorado, last year all of the best skiers were here for 3 weeks for competitions, the x-games, the u.s. open and the bmw x3 freeski invite. now my question to you all is this, what type of competition is better for skiing? one like x-games where you qualify through other events, but its just another part of the telivised stuff put between snowboarding and motox, but still has a decent prize purse, one like the u.s. open that is more grass roots and anyone can enter, but is very packed with enterants, has no qualifying standard, and a very small cash prize for winning, and is not televised, or one like the bmw x3 where a group of 10 riders are selected by invite only, and giveen a large prize, in this case 15k and a new bmw x3 to fight for, and is given a half hour t.v. spot on cbs on a saturday afternoon?
i attended all 3 of these last year, and i love the open the most, the atmosphere was so much more relaxed than x games, all they did there was try to get people to make a lot of noise. bmw was relaxed for the most part, you got to be right with the riders, but its bmw and their executives that make it up tight.
also, do you think freeskiing needs big companys like bmw to get more involved if they so chose to push the sport along a bit?
'what?' Lauren every time you ask her a question for the first time!
