This picture was taken at Sunshine in Banff, Alberta 4 years ago. The light was bright and it stayed there most of the day with two rainbows on the side, so I snapped a picture. To this day I still have no idea what it was, and would like to know if anyone else has seen this.
No it was there most of the day!
I don't live out west and thought that it could be normal with that much snow reflecting light from the sun.. Until I was looking for more pictures of such a thing.
my guess is there is one central light out there somewhere from reflected sunlight off snow or some other reflective shit, and the lights on either side are the resulting flares from the "sun dog" you posted above. I have no clue though
I know exactly what it is I'm an Earth Scientist. It's frozen water in the air. It happens in cold places. It's just how light refracts off it. It's the same idea as sun halos. Like when you can see a halo around the sun it's just frozen water molecules in the sky refracting the light.
