I need help with a lens quickly!

Alright NS, I've decided I'm going to buy a canon t4i, which is a pain in the ass already because I have to order it online. Stupid ass recall in stores.

What lens should I buy? I'm looking for something fairly cheap (I know they're all expensive.) Problem is I don't know anything about lenses. For the summer I'll be shooting promotional videos, music videos, and probably a documentary project, so I don't need to worry about a good lens for skiing yet.

Sorry if this comes off as stupid, I just need to get rolling quickly.

I would say 300 or less for a lens. Definitely down to pay a lot less than 300 if possible.

I'd also buy a t4i kit if there's a good one.

Scratch the T4i and buy a used T2i body and use the excess money to buy 700 dollar glass instead of 300.

auto focus in video is just a gimmick and doesn't work well at all

might want to also consider a gh2 if you're doing mostly video over photos (or possibly a camcorder, depending on if you want to invest more money in the future or not etc)

This or a t3i if you want the swivle screen. Glass is much more important and you'll be able to buy a couple nice lenses with more money.

Get the T3i, thet swivel screen is incredibly helpful and it isn't much more expensive.

As for a lens: Tamron 17-50. Just look in the last 3 pages and this thread has been made a couple times.

What are some camcorders that could get the same video quality as the t4i?

And what would be some good lenses under 300 for the t4i?

Well if photography is what you are looking to do more of (witch dosnt seem like it) than t4i is what to go for because of the higher shutter rate but since video is what you are looking for (which is a yes in this case) than go with t3i because it has the same video quality as the t4i for the most part. And the t4i has a horrible sensor for getting night/dark lighting area video, the footage is really noisy.

I have a t4i so take it from me. And also the touchscreen is not all that worth it (nice but not needed) i would of gotten the t3i if i was able to try out both the cameras before my purchase which i did not.
