MFD Switch Plates Question- For those who actually own a QUIVER

Adding a pair of 188 Black Diamond Megawatts to compliment my 185 Opus.

Megawatts are for storm days/heli/cat and the Opus is my daily driver and touring ski.

Running FKS 140 XXL's - love them.

Putting the MFD alltimes with the FKS 140 XXLs on the Opus, should I get the switchplates and use the same set on the Megawatts, or should I juts buy another pair of FKS 140 XXLs?

Are the switchplates worth it or just a pain in the ass?

For what it's worth, I can afford an extra $300 for a second pair of bindings, I can't afford any hassles, but the switchplates sure sound like a cool idea.

if you can afford the bindings, just buy them and mount em up. i dont see the point of switching them over every time if you can afford two pairs of the binders

Buy Barons/Dukes/Guardians for the Opus and put your FKS on the Megawatts.

sell everything and donate it towards the cast system kickstarter, for when that comes out MFD will go out of business very quickly.

Are you talking about switching the entire MFD/FKS assembly between skis, or taking the FKS off the MFDs then putting them straight on the megawatts?

If this is the case, you should be aware that the MFDs cannot have bindings installed repeatedly. The aluminum threads on the plates are not the same as the threads of quiver killers. Once you take the binding off of the plate, those holes are ruined due to the binding screws biting into the aluminum plate. Since there is only one set of toe holes, MFDs are essentially one time use regarding binding installs.

Disregard if you are planning on switching the entire assembly.

I really like my MFDs because I can use my FKS 180's and they're on my daily driver. I don't mind the extra weight since they're mounted on Renegades and I'm fat and slow anyway.

If you're not married to having FKS' on all your skis, I'd do what others have recommended and put the 140's on the megawatts then something baron/guardian-esque on the Opus'.

Thanks for your imput.

Yes, I am wed to having FKS on all my skis. I'm referring to the MFD switchplate (like $100) which allows you to move the entire MFD + FKS setup between skis, so you can tour on both skis, and use the same set of bindings. From videos, it appears it's several screws and that's it, but I'm skeptical.

I'd say go for the Switch plates and use the cash for some cat/heli time to put those sticks to good use.

Stupid easy system to use. Was swapping back and forth all year with other team members so we could try out each other's skis on a day to day basis. Plus if you do end up travelling it makes bringing extra skis waaaay easier. Was rolling with one pair of plates on three pairs of skis this year without issue and with way less headache.

Invest in quiver killer inserts. Way lighter and easy to swap out bindings.
