OP has a point, lot of kids getting in to skiing for the park, but not actually learning to ski. They may not need to race, but some fundamentals would be nice. Especially when after the park they need to run it out on a crowded trail, and become a fucking menace.

Not to mention all the steeze means nothing when you ski no better than my 12 year old who has been skiing for 1/2 a season.

But Arcanine is right, you dont have to have racing backround to be able to ski... and it totally says in a book "tom wallisch, phil casabon and sammy carlson are all pros becasue they raced, if you dont race you will go no where in life"

I'm so glad I'm not the only person who caught this. Anyone who had any kind of fundamental knowledge of skiing wouldn't be talking about "pizza" or "doing a rail." This guy is clearly fresh out of the gate and has been "racing" for a year. Hello bandwagon, can vote this asshole out so he can die of starvation?

I've raced since I was about 6 and recently quit this year. And yes you do learn the fundamentals of skiing from it, but you don't learn how to ski in crud or powder. If anyone hasn't noticed racers suck at free skiing, the only thing they can strive in is on the groomers. The racers who are good in the park are the ones who skip training to go actually ski.

^F. Mullen perhaps you should check out some of Darren Rhalves big mountain video segments....I would say skiing park doesnt teach you too ski powder or crud even less than racing - you gotta get out of the park and the gates and go fcking ski!

skkiing is awesome because u can do whatever the fuck you want without any training of any kind. Kids should learn basics before hitting the park, but its all about fun so i mean u wanna go hit park when u can't even balence. FUCK IT! go for it

Glad i read this and i was just having fun in the park with my kids. Im going to go get my kids strechy pants and ill get some bamboo poles to put up between features to get our fundamentals down. Thanks man i feel like such a loser thinking skiing was just about fun and doing it the way you want to. Way better to look the same different is scary
