but if you guys want some Canadian music, then The Tragically Hip is the epitome.
I cant listen to them without remembering riding in the boat at the cottage when i was younger. my uncle would play them in the boat's cassette player. i will never forget that.
I get a lot of Canadian stations living where I do and I've decided that Canada is a step ahead of America on the cool music factor. Or I just haven't listened to the radio in a long time...which is true
July Talk is quite indie I would say. Saw them a few months ago warming up for Matt Mays and they were awesome. Stage chemistry between the lead singers made the show.
People still have pretty terrible taste in general here. Sloan, Sam Roberts, Hip are all well known but I wouldn't call them "popular". I've been at free Sloan shows with only 50 other people. They do well but not amazingly so. Sam does better because he is a damn good looking man.
oh yeah this band! i slept over at some random dudes condo a couple weeks ago and his gf kept playing this band. i couldnt remember what they were called! ty
Screw it. I'm just gonna post great canadian bands
pour le quebecois:
Sorry that's a lot of music, I'm just way to excited about canadian bands. I'm a firm believer that plenty of the best music in the world is coming out of here.
I don't know if you americans have ever heard of greasy hippies who wear white t-shirts and sandals everyday, but if you haven't, here is one whining like a bitch and slapping an acoustic
I remember back in grade 6 every morning my alarm would go off to Hardroad on my local station. They almost always played that song at that exact time. Grade 6 was a good grade.
