Help with girl park skis

Hi,

So I've been looking online for some decent girl park skis but I feel like I'm going around in circles so wondering if anyone has any tips for what to look in a good pair.
I ski in NZ so in the Wanaka/Queenstown area and usually do whole seasons out there so 100+ days of skiing.

I'm an advanced/expert on a good day in normal down the hill skiing but I'm maybe only intermediate in the park. I used to ski on 158 Volkl dogens but since Im only just 150cm tall and weigh about 53kgs I felt they were a bit too big. (I'm not going to grow anymore either! Too old.)


And my budget is unlimited! :)

Any advice is welcome, thanks!

Im from NZ to It's fucking hard finding cheap skis. I've been looking for ages trying to find some NZ websites but a lot of them don't have very big selections of park skis. Just don't by from america because shipping and tax all adds up a lot in the end. I bought my afterbangs for $500 on ebay and they ended up costing $800 after all the shipping.

also are you looking specifically for girls skis or would you not mind riding mens?

The problem with guys skis is that they dont normally come small enough.. im looking for hopefully 155 or 156. was looking at jr boy skis but im not sure how they would hold up since i think i weigh a bit more than a 13yr old boy

Look in to a volkl pyra park ski, they got camber under foot with some tip and tail rocker to make them stable on jumps but super playful on rails and butters.

You should definately be watching on junior skis. There are a lots of 13yr olds who weights more then you and ski with junior skis. So the weight should'nt be an issue.

Thanks everyone! I have been looking at the pyras actually and hopefully the new season one will make it to nz. And also in regards to the jr skis - are they generally different to adult ones with how they are made or is it just length?

Jr. skis aren't going to have the same construction as adult skis, I would advise staying away from them if you can, especially since you ski 100 days a year.

I'm near your height (157cm) and there are plenty of options out there in the 155 range. Since you're probably pretty lightweight at that height make sure you look for park skis that other people describe as flexy or soft as they will be more like medium stiffness for you. For example I love the atomic punx, and it's described as an incredibly flexy ski but feels moderate to me, really a perfect ski with a great flex pattern and it comes in 155 and is a true symmetrical twin.

If you are interested I'm trying to sell some 150cm K2 presses (only ridden twice ever) for $100, but I'm in the US so shipping would cost probably twice that :(

The Line Afterbangs come in a 155 length, and are about the cheapest park skis you can buy. They're symmetrical, pretty soft and bombproof, although on the heavy side and the extruded bases are kinda slow. You probably want something lighter and with a sintered base, since you're small, but it's an option.

If you liked the after bangs I think you would like the volkl ledge's. they're also a true symmetric ski, they have better bases, a nice soft flex for men so probably good for a girl (not meaning this in a negative way) also a little (10%) rocker on the nose and tail for less edge catching on lips and surface swaps and easier turn initiation. Found them on sale in NZ at gravity sports in a 147 and a 155 both would be fine for you. If you think they're to soft then the step is the same ski but with carbon Ollie bands for a little stiffer flex and pop. Double post but they're very similar to what you're riding currently with regard to sidecut and turn radius and will have the symmetry of the after bangs so I think these would be a great choice for you.

Old thread bump sorry but thanks to everyone to helped, i managed to find a pair of 2012 155 volkl pyras on this site called torpedo.com. Any one in nz looking for gear should check it out it has some pretty good deals! :)
