Lately there have been alot of threads against poles and I am here to clear it all up for you, at least from my current standpoint. Personally I do compete and I now compete without the use of poles. People do look at you weirdly sometimes but it's becoming bigger and bigger on the comp scene. I used to ski with poles as my coach would make me up until about end of february when I got fed up with it, and basically told him to "F off" as I wanted to do my own thing cuz that's the whole point of freestyle skiing to me. To be honest I am much better at switch tricks without poles as I find I get much less caught up in my hands if that makes any sense. However I fine grabs about equally as difficult with or without. I do find that balance is harder without poles however it just takes some getting used to and personally it has made my rails alot better as well because I find it once again easier to swing my weight, press etc. without getting all caught up in my hands. On top of this I find it more "flowy" when I'm skiing big mountain or even side hits on groomers and in the park and I also find it easier to put style into your trick without poles. I also enjoy the way it looks more as I find it rly focuses solely on one's ski ability, rather than just watching their poles, and it's a real test of skill to watch someone go from poles to no poles and watching how wavy their arms are.Doing this you'll notice your arms become very wild and uncontrolled as you dont have an extionsion of arm if that makes any sense, like the way tightrope walkers use long poles to help balance.(inb4 anyone makes a pole, tightrope, gay, long stick joke). Lastly I want to say that whatever works for you works for you, and therefore we dont all havto hate on one another for being different and unique after all isn't that what skiing's all about. I just thought I'd clear that up for those of you out there with questions and remember Poles are for strippers.
Dude, seriously ? You tell your story as if YOU managed to say NO to poles, like you revolutionised the sport or something, similarly to how freeski pioneers managed to take the sport the direction they wanted.
Just, there's a fucking gap between your NO, and their NO. -K me, NS reputaion won't kill me.
seriously nobody gives a fuck if you use poles or not. if you can't ski with poles because they get in the way, you're probably either retarded or have poles that are too long. you're probably one of those kids that doesn't use poles because b-dog doesn't, or whatever other pro you're trying to be.
