Anybody photograph cars?

I've got some buddies who have their licenses and are all about cars, since I have a camera they want me to take some pictures.. Just wondering if anybody had any tips, good angles, etc. ?

Just a couple of useful tips there, My main thought would be diffuse lights, and try panning with a slow shutter too(among those tips)

Filming the movie Cars is illegal. I know this from experience. They wont let me back in the movie theater. I had to pay a really really really really big phine to Regal Cinima. If you decide to be a rebel and film it then post your review becaus I still havnt seen it. thanks in advance.

- have fun
- try a million angles.
- get LOW! like lie the fuck down on the ground (safely of course)

- shoot in adverse weather conditions (this is my car) rain looks fucking great
- CLEAN the cars before you shoot (have your buddies do that, not you lol/ dont forget to wipe the rims well)
- bring a towel to buff out scuffs or whatever when you're shooting (or to lie down on)

- Shoot at night
- long exposures
- heres a cool idea: try a rear curtain sync with strobes off to the side of the road.
or have your buddy drive down the road and under street lamps, the lamps will light up the car as he drives by. shoot from the side.

-It might be hard to make the photos look appealing if the cars you are shooting are all stock or nothing too special.

-Parking garage shoots get old very quick.

-Always have the wheel (rim) facing the camera, never show the tread pattern of the tire.

-Try and shoot an hour or so before sunset; flair is where it's at and night shoots can be difficult to pull off, especially without any external lighting.

-My pet-peeve is cropping cars in awkward spots. Try and look at whats in frame and determine if it's balanced/makes sense.
