I have been shopping for skis for next year. I've been lookin at either surface or armadas ( specifically armada t halls or surface blanks). I ride park but I like a stiffer skis that still handles on the rest of the mountian. I wouldn't mind hem being a little wider than the traditionally park ski. Not to concerned with price. But if you guys have any ideas on what I should get. Much thanks
With regards to armada if your looking for a stiffer ski you won't want the thall look at the ar7. Regarding maybe looking wider you could maybe look at the arv ti as well not sure if it would be great in the park I only tried it all mtn, but its pretty stiff and wider then your average park ski. Never had the chance to ski surface, they don't tend to come to buyer tests, so I can't give advice on them.
How stiff is the ARV TI compared to the Ar7? I have the AR7 but wish it was wider for deeper days and had wider Turning radius. And what are the dimensions on ARV ti?
For OP the Ar7 would kill it for a Park/ Allmnt ski. Put at -2.5 for mounting and it slays even fresh powder.
The only reason Im looking at the ARV ti cause Im spending less time in the park and more around the mnt.
Let me rephrase: You can ski them in Colorado powder if it's less than 12 inches. Obviously it's not a Powder tool but it can hold its own in Fresh pow and chop if it's dryer snow.
Will it float as well as my Billygoats on 12in day? No. But I can still have fun.
The arv ti is certainly stiffer then a ar7 but more importantly its full sidewall and the to laminate gives it great torsional stiffness. This means it really can crank a hard turn. On firmer snow they give you lots of confidence that you can through them into a long curve and they will stick, at any speed too. It's a massive step up from the ar7 in terms of all mtn. They are still good for fresh too, certainly less playfully but much better float then a park ski.
But I would have to agree I had ar7 and they were surprisingly good in pow. Much better then thalls. I would say you could call the ar7 a all mtn ski. But yeah te arv ti is a much better all mtn ski
They still have rocker like the old arv, barely any skis other then full on park skis are full camber any more. Rocker has spread every where in our shop last year only 2 skis had no rocker and they were the suspect and the punx. Everything else from cruiser skis to full fis race skis had some degree of rocker.
And yeah from what I remember the sizes are the same as last season. Maybe a new bigger size but I may be wrong.
