You could also go to Perfect North. Arguably just as good.

Depending on where you are in Dayton Perfect North will be much, much closer.
Perfect also opens earlier and maintains snowpack much longer than any other 'rinky-dink' midwest 'resort' I've seen. They put more money into their place than anyone else in the area.
Take that for what it's worth.

Dayton eh? you should definitely come down to our shop when you move! As stated before, its pretty much a toss up between PNS and MRM. If you want to ride park, I think you'll find MRM to tickle your fancy. Their jump line is on point, and they have waaaaaaaaay more jibs than PNS. If you're looking for a little bit of everything, PNS is the way to go. Perfects definitely has better snowmaking and runs. Park is good, sometimes lacks flow.
MRM has a bar, which we enjoy.

First off, sorry about having to live in Dayton. Vibes.
Secondly, you must drive like my grandma.
MRM is only 10 miles away and via more secondary roads than it takes to get to PNS. PNS is all highway and as I stated above, they put more money into their snowpack than any other midwest slope; earlier open, better park, better snow, longer season.
But hey, keep fucking that chicken.

EDIT: 10 fewer miles away than PNS from Dayton.

well your right in the fact that they open earlier than anywhere else. this past season they were open for 10 non-consecutive days before MRM... BUT they closed earlier in march. MRM was open to the public on st. paddys weekend (another good reason to have a bar) whereas PNS was not (i realize they had PFC but c'mon its like $75/day). not only that but being that your name is BmillsSkier i would think that your aware about brandywine's march 30-31st opening this year....way later than PNS. MRM even had an on-snow event on cinco de mayo which was a blast. the point im trying to make is yes PNS opens earliest but the length of the seasons are pretty comparable

Definitely hit up Mad River if your going to be in Dayton. Best Park with probably the shortest driving time for you. My favorite in Ohio, and I was driving 2.5 hours from university on weekends for it.

From Dayton, its a quick jump on I-70 and you're there in 1.25 hours ish to MRM. Great park.
Perfect North is great but you're gonna have to go closer to Cincy to Indiana.

Is there any skiing or mountain biking by kent?

There are both, but you'll need a car. Skiing is about 25 minutes from Kent. And there are some....not many though.....single track trails at different places that are a 1/2 hour drive. Or up to an hour to some of the other trails. If you're just looking to rack up some fitness miles though, there are some bike and hike type trails that are paved and are probably easy to get to from campus. Some google ideas........boston mills/Brandywine ski.....Cuyahoga valley national park. ...........summit county bike and hike..........camba-Cleveland area mountain bike association. .......vultures knob wooster........rays indoor mountain bike park......

The camba site should help you find the mtb trails.
Www.bmbw.com for the ski.
All times are Eastern (-5)
